A word of caution, to those about to take an overseas holiday - and this isn't a political post, just some advice.
Some airports are now offering approximately €1 for £1 and not much more in $US.
Exchange rates usually worsen the closer that you get to an airport. Alternative options including pre-purchasing, buying via the internet or spending/withdrawing when abroad on cards obtained in the UK. These could be pre-paid/loaded cards, that debit your funds as you spend, or your UK bank debit/credit cards, some of which don't charge fees. |

"That's good have €150 to change back should make a bit of profit"
Maybe find someone who's going off travelling - if you were closer, I'd take it off you @ SophieExchangeBureau rates - they beat the airports!! |

"I've been looking at lunchtime as I go next week. €1.17 to the £ is best I can find
JG x"
I've seen €1.19, but there is a fee involved
Also, Halifax Clarity cards are good, as they have no fees involved - apart from their interest rates, as they're a credit card. Probably not feasible for someone who's traveling in the very near future, unless they already have one. |

The current Mastercard rate, for Euro purchases - that are then charged on by card issuers, but possibly with some minor adjustment, for one Euro is 0.839713. That is approximately Euro 1.19 per £1.00
It's definitely something to plan ahead with and avoiding the airport exchanges at all costs.
Another thing to not do is to be charged when you're overseas in a currency that isn't their currency. Eg, a retailer/hotel etc asks if you'd like to be charged in £, instead of Euros - refuse, as you are subject to their exchange rates (which may be anything!!!) rather than at official rates.. |
