I know not everyone is for everyone and some won't get along and some won't agree with certain threads.

I agree it's an open forum and everyone should have the opportunity to voice their opinions.

I also think that equally it's important to remember that the threads we post or our comments have an impact on the real people that read them.

I feel really sad right now

The problem is everybody is different

Some people have a don't give a shit attitude, they say things just to be nasty and when people as nasty to them its water off a ducks back

What some don't understand is not everybody is like that

Not everybody can shrug at abuse

Some people care, they are careful what they write as they don't want to upset other and when others upset them they care

But all they get from others is "shit happens, move on" like we are supposed to go through life emotionless

Yes ok this is the internet but when somebody on here is rude or nasty its still a real person saying these things to you and some people on here can be really rude/cruel, sad thing is certain people seem to come on here just for that very reason

Sadly you'll never change other people so you have to alter your reaction to it. There's really no need to be rude in any circumstances and it's much easier to say nothing than waste time being nasty. It appears some people just can't help themselves. It's thoughtless and unnecessary but it won't change.

If you see a post that you feel is uncalled for then report it. I don't believe in turning a blind eye and I will always stand up for someone being picked on because it's the right thing to do.

The problem is, some people think it's OK to say horrible things and shout people down on the forums. It would be nearly impossible to act in the same way in 'real' non-virtual life, as no-one would have anything to do with you. In a forum these people can just pop up, be offensive or hurtful then go away again.

A lot (most) fab members I have met in person say they avoid the forums as it's too easy to suddenly be pounced on. That' sad.

Let's be nice and try to listen to what people have to say and answer in a non confrontational way

It seems to me that humans are preconditioned to be nasty to each other, it goes back to early humans who were originally nomadic hunter gatherers, hardly crossing with others. Then at some point in our history, decided to settle and create territories and boundaries, thats when the instinct to fall out, argue and fight reared its head. We can't help falling out, bullying and generally being quite nasty to others especially from the comfort of our defined online internet boundaries. Hope all that makes sense. Lol.

To me, the thoughtless threads are just as bad, or the ones where someone is trying to be nice to one person and ends up insulting a group of others.

For example, posting on a pro-BBW thread to compliment large women and saying they don't like bags of bones.

A lot just don't think or don't realise what they're saying.

It really wears me down how much people are compared and pigeon holed on here and how much we hear about what's perfect/imperfect in terms of looks.

Most of the things deemed inadequate or imperfect aren't things people can change. It's what they got in the genetic lottery.

I do care what's said on here but I've learnt not to let it affect me. I was deeply upset by comments on 2 threads running this time last year so much so I logged off & didn't log in for a few weeks.

I learnt then that some people really didn't care what they said or who they upset as long as they posted within the rules.

Thankfully I give no shits about being popular.

Having suffered a bully in real life I just think it's more important to stand up to them and deal with the consequences of that rather than stand by and watch someone being ripped to shreds.

Some can really knock one's confidence, yes, particularly if it's a bad day anyway.

It's not such a problem now but years ago I developed an eating disorder as a result of constant criticism.

Some people feel a lot of pressure to meet other people's standards.

Look at society with plastic surgery commonplace amongst women and growing for men, eating disorders and self harm a serious problem, the diet and beauty industries massive, young girls of 5 and 6 thinking they are fat and wanting to diet, models eating paper and taking drugs to keep their weight down to what's expected of them.

Things people say here and in the real world can have real impact.

A lot are chasing an impossible ideal and things said on here can make people believe they ought to be able to fulfil it and they are a failure and inadequate if not.

Lots of people do take things to heart. When someone is nasty then it doesn't really matter whether it's simply an attempt to be funny or whether it's intentionally nasty, if the recipient is vulnerable or just having an off day, it has the power to hurt and that, to me, is pretty unkind. I don't feel the need to be mean to anyone. I'm not able to understand the reasons behind it. I just know that there's clearly something wrong with the person who thinks that's it's okay to be horrible to a stranger from the other side of a computer.

For me, it certainly provides much more information than the verification system ever will.

What I'm about to say is a huge generalisation but...people with low self esteem tend to look for things that reinforce their low opinion of themselves rather than things that boost them up. I've seen it here and among friends you can tell them 100 times they're slim, good looking or whatever but they will believe the one person who tells them they aren't. While I believe we need to stand up for people, people need to stand up for themselves too. So to an extent I agree with the _iew that unless you're pretty tough you should keep away from places like this.

"I'm not the most kind person all of the time on here but I have given out loads of profile advice and been helpful as well. I'm not as Mary Poppinsy as I could be but that's just me. I have a daft sense of humour and I like word play and sometimes the combination loses its meaning in the translation so to speak so what I've written isn't always exactly what I meant. "

This is a big problem. You can write something and it sounds right in your head, but another person can take it differently to how you meant.

Text has no tone to it. Sometimes you can see a thread suddenly spiral out of control from this.

Dry humour is difficult to get across too.

"Do people actually get upset over forum posts? Really?

A lot are chasing an impossible ideal and things said on here can make people believe they ought to be able to fulfil it and they are a failure and inadequate if not."

I really am numb to external influence it seems...

i've always been pretty none caring of what folk say to me or expect of me and just bumbled through life doing my own thing.

Again though...i'm really not the most sensitive of souls.

i was always taught that i would never please everyone so that maybe helped.

Just where I need to be.

There is a big difference in voicing an opinion and being intentionally cruel and unkind. The lines are often blurred on here. Some sit on the line and dip their toe into the unkind, some just jump in head first.Challenge or report if you feel it's against rules. One shouldn't allow others to affect you on behalf of others upset. As John Niven wrote in his book the second coming.Just be kind.

So to an extent I agree with the _iew that unless you're pretty tough you should keep away from places like this."

It's not difficult to find things to reinforce negative thoughts though when there are so many "which is better?" threads and threads discussing the perfect whatever.

I mean, the perfect female nipple? Who knew women could have imperfect nipples? Is there nothing at all that women are not suposed to meet some standard on? And it's the same for men to some extent. Height, cock size, cut/uncut, hairy/not hairy.

Everyone has to be assessed and rated and it can't be done quietly when deciding whom to meet. No, it has to be discussed to death here. Every damned day.

I'm not saying we need to blow smoke up each others arses all the time, just stop with the constant comparisons and debating what's best.

It's not necessarily about insecurity either. Sometimes it's from seeing the effects it has on others. Or having been there inthe past and not wanting anyone else to feel that way.

I've seen some truly awful things on here.

On a "Which is best, real or augmented boobs?" thread, (naturally fake was used in place of augmented), I remember a guy expressing that he prefers real by saying, "fake boobs look like two tennis balls thrown against velcro".

There's just no need for it.

How about a participation trophy?

Sorry but lets face it the vast majority of "small talk" conversations are often "which do you think is best". Given the nature of this site that will largley revolve around humans physical appearances or sexual performance.

On a gaming forum xbox/ps4 or pc.

On a pc forum nvidia or amd, Intel or amd.

Car/bike forums fully synthetic or mineral oil. (Holy shit if you think discusions here get mean, personal or heated go ask "which oil is best" on a a petrol head forum.

And so it goes for everything.

Because it is the exchange of knowledge.

I can be a bitch but it's usually in response to people being critical or rude to others, an attempt at humour which didn't come across well or sheer impatience.

I have a dreadful lack of patience.

I don't set out to be mean to anyone unless they are being mean or unfairly judgemental and critical. I am very sarcastic though..

I'd like to think I don't have enemies - though I'm probably being naive! On the forums I have regular disagreements with a couple of people - Bella Donna for instance - but only people who I know are able to have a reasoned argument without feeling upset or victimised - and if I argue with someone on here it means I feel that they have the intellect to argue back!! I really don't see the point of having a 'forum fight' with someone who can't string a sentence together. It wouldn't be fair on them and I'd feel like a bully! I will say if I disagree with them though!

Btw - have we worked out what thread/comment knitter's post refers to yet? I've had a quick scan and can't see anything out of the ordinary!

Most people are nice Knitter - some aren't and never will be! It's something we just have to accept and learn to live with! You can't prick the conscience of someone who doesn't have one!

Chin up petal!! Xx

For the most part I can ignore the petty little rain clouds of doom that frequent the forums, but there are times when I think someone is out of order and I say so.

If someone's mean to me I try to shrug it off but sometimes it is hard. I was bullied as a kid, and a few years ago I had to tolerate 2 years of online bullying. It's hard to rise above it sometimes when some people deserve a smack in the face with a shovel, and you know full well they wouldn't dare speak like that to your face.

What I don't get are those deliberately miserable people, who have nothing nice to say about anyone or anything, but are apparently an expert on everything. They usually cry 'clique!' if more than one person agrees on a point of _iew that differs from theirs, or they comment on every thread just to hear the sound of their own voice, so to speak. It must be very sad and lonely in their world, and I feel sorry for them.

If that does go on I would put myself forward to be abused by people and have negativity directed at me, any nasty pm's off people, direct them to me.

I'm not gonna lie, I do enjoy arguing and not just on here but in the real world too even have to get friends to order food for me cos I'm banned from entering some of my local takeaways and don't get me started on people driving too close behind me.

I tried to grasp what's going on but I've obviously missed something.

I know I'm new here, and lots of people are. But the fact is, bullying isn't new. And just like a school playground there are people who try to bully, but there are more good people around that won't let it happen. .

Especially on here, where most of the good people are 6ft plus, and work out! And they enjoy looking after pretty ladies. or protecting the nerds so the pretty ladies like them even more.

Ignore them. They will go away.

I'm nice to people, people are nice to me. I don't think anyone has ever deliberately offended me and vice versa.

I've witnessed that old adage "what goes around comes around" on the forums in many ways, good and bad, and where it's negative I've seen people give as good as they get (and then take offence).

I personally don't give time to out right abuse, nastiness or negativity on Fab, it's not real life and words on a screen can easily be taken out of context.

They might not come across as insecure, but that's the whole idea! It's easy to make yourself feel bigger by belittling other people.

I like those comics but I don't know about there inner securities.

I guess most timid people are insecure, but the big mouths, especially online ones, will be people bigging themselves up.

Iceland, but Aldi is closer..

In life we come across these people all the time...

The Audi driver that flashes you continually to get outta his way then gives a rude hand gesture or shouts abuse outta the window as he passes...

The person in a shop or restaurant that is not getting the level of service they expect so loudly, verbally abuses the poor member of staff, usually belittling their position..

The arsehole on a packed train or bus that has their bag on a seat and refuses to move it when asked politely...

Yep, you know them..

Commonly referred to as tossers, this type of inbred primate never evolved and was unable to grasp the socal skills that decent people attained...

Usually found congregating in pubs and Indian restaurants, the only way they have found to communicate with their evolved counterparts is by use of expletives shouted loudly and belching..

These poor creatures can be identified by their call which sounds a lot like "Oihyafuckingcunt" and poor coordination whilst navigating to the nearest kebab establishment.

Fortunately, evolution has proven that such dim witted creatures will not survive and are sometimes found as road kill with their Audis parked in trees or hugging lamp posts..

"There are times when the old saying "if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all" should apply. People on here have real feelings and emotions and nasty comments are just uncalled for

Agreed. It's something most people tend to forget when they start to attack / take the piss out of the newbie single males who dare to post on here too. Respect for all would be spiffing x

It's horrible to see a newbie say the 'wrong' thing and be shredded by a pack of keyboard wolves. Surely much better to spend that message saying something helpful / educational?"

Except the ones that moan the worst about mean people are usually the ones that jump on newbies etc like a pack of wolves!!

(I don't mean you OP.)

"In life we come across these people all the time...

The people who bully and crash through peoples feelings and opinions should remember the little green arrow.

If they hope to swing with others, do they think that people want to invite someone who has scant regard for others thoughts and feelings into a meet ?

We wouldn't, I imagine others would feel the same.

Keep it fun xx

"There is a big difference in voicing an opinion and being intentionally cruel and unkind. The lines are often blurred on here. Some sit on the line and dip their toe into the unkind, some just jump in head first.Challenge or report if you feel it's against rules. One shouldn't allow others to affect you on behalf of others upset. As John Niven wrote in his book the second coming.Just be kind."

I would go further and say the more aggressive and mean the behaviour the more damaged the person - some of the most fucked up people on fabs are on this forum lol!!

People take offence too easily on here, and people write with intent to offend too often.

"To me, the thoughtless threads are just as bad, or the ones where someone is trying to be nice to one person and ends up insulting a group of others.

It's what they got in the genetic lottery."

Agree with this. Ive had some hurtful things said to me simply because I lack hair and wear specs. It's not as if im even unique in that respect, there's plenty of pics on here of fems getting it on with bald men, yet it seems to count against some. Very odd indeed.

I'm not generally a fan of people who 'say it like it is', which is usually a cover-all for wanting to, or to readily upset others, when they spout stuff that is reasonably likely to hurt others.

We all have the potential to load the straw that breaks the camel's back, dealing the fatal blow to someone's well being or life. If you lack empathy, take some steps to learn how to communicate in a less destructive way and increase your motivation to do so.

Unfortunately some people see someone putting, strongly, an opinion that differs from theirs as a personal attack and abusive, even when it's neither personal nor abusive.

Some cannot take anyone disagreeing with them. It often turns to "if you disagree, you don't have to read it, just pass by". If that happened we'd have threads of nothing but people agreeing with each other, with no discussion or debate. It'd be boring as hell.

People shouldn't be personally attacked for posting, (although if they start of by being negative, rude, judgemental and/or insulting they are less likely to get a positive response), but nor should they expect nobody will disagree with them, or that nobody should.

If that's the case then it's awful! Bullying is horrible and shouldn't be tolerated anywhere! Fab is supposed to be our escape from the real world - and to me that means an escape from the 'slings and arrows' of the real world as well as the freedom to admit I like sex with people I don't love!! We should all think before we type!! Xx

Make a single male account peach then post roughly the same thing from your ladies account and the guys account

Watch the very very differnt replies you get.

"

Just a small point but I feel we should discourage the creation of fake accounts even in the interest of social experiment.

"I like to debate things, and argue, but contrary to popular belief, I don't argue for the sake of it. I disagree when I actually disagree.

There are just a lot of people/opinions on here I disagree with!

Im not talking about debate. Its when people are intentionally cruel."

I'll probably get shot down in pieces for this comment ~ but I do feel sometimes people open themselves for a bashing.

For example I wouldn't start a thread asking for Fabs or do you like my boobs as I know people would express the good, the bad & the ugly!

I can't control this element of a public forum so I wouldn't go there.

I've started threads asking for fabs for some of the male forumites when they've been in top pics. I think they get a raw deal in terms of appreciation of their pics sometimes.

I wouldn't ask for myself though because I think it's needy and a bit daft. Oh, except for some joke posts when one of my pics was close to 1000 fabs.

I don't understand why some people care so much about fabs.

With splinters in my arse I'm going to do my 'thing' of sitting on the fence here and agree with both _iewpoints

People being intentionally nasty or spiteful is a right c**tish thing to do and it's totally unnecessary. They do it as they know (or hope) to provoke a reaction or upset people.

However - everyone KNOWS what people can be like on Internet forums so it's not going to be a surprise when people do react that way.

Therefore if you open yourself and make yourself an easy target, those c**tish people are going to, unfortunately, take a shot!

Take care people and protect yourselves from the flak wherever possible if the incoming is likely to hurt

i have been on much harsher forums than this..i am not a malicious person however, i am not good at shutting up, when it comes to people being bullied( from my perspective) and i occasionally have a mood on me that wants to pick at bullying righteous types of people and pull them apart, so they know what it feels like...mostly i avoid that which would get me going...but round a full moon....

I just feel I show say that although this thread is about me. The thread in question that turned nasty towards me was NOT started by me but by someone who wanted to get in my knickers. They started a thread without my knowledge to get my new pic on to pg1. The thread was already nasty towards me by a regular forum member before I even new it was up. I got it removed but by then I was alrwady being made to look like a "laughting stock". Hence my removal of the pic.

Never saw it, nor would I likely have posted on it.

You often see threads put up by others, usually 'has so and so left' and they turn nasty.

I avoid all type of love in threads and let me be clear that I am not against them as others righty enjoy them... Bitterness and jealousy exist, it's not nice being on the receiving end of it but the second you allow it to impact you, they win.

Brighton - even Hove!

I hadn't noticed anything untoward in the forums today.

What I have noticed since my very first day here is some people jump on someone because their comments have hit a nerve. They then write a sarcastic, scathing retort (one that is cleverly worded so they don't get a ban) and sit back, waiting for the ensuing argument. The OP fights back and the throwing your dummy out of the pram remarks start rolling in. New male profiles often get jumped on and called misogynistic because they haven't realised you can't say anything sexual on the forums because women take offence.
