Iceland, but Aldi is closer.. |
Is it just me, or are others out there unsure what others expect in an introduction message...
Do you add a picture and if so one showing your face or a body shot? I appreciate the old cock shot is about as popular as a french kisser at a family reunion.
What text do you expect... Summin explicit like "I wanna shag yer till yer begging me to stop" or try to sell your attributes of what makes you such a nice person?
Keep it short and sweet and hope the recipient is willing to take a look at your profile or write an essay to rival Tolstoy?
Am I alone here or do others struggle too?
As Dr Evil once said, "come on people, throw me a frickin' bone here" |

I try all of your ideas above.
I've discovered many things during my short time and few mails I've sent.
But there isn't a one size fits all.
When I meet people face to face, I quickly know how to act with them, what to say what not to say. How much talking I need to do, and how much to listen. Body language is easier to read for me anyway.
I will never know what a woman really wants, ever. How am I supposed to know from 2 paragraphs on their profile |

It's a toughie isn't it?
As a wet behind the ears newb I used to listen to all the advice - write a decent sized message, personalise it, attach a face pic etc.
First attempt at that I got a charming "if I wanted a fucking essay I would have bought a book - dick!" And a block :-I
Just be yourself, make sure you've read the profile and keep it relatively tame. I don't put any explicit stuff in my messages - I try and write like I'd talk to someone in the pub if I make first contact. |

Obviously you gotta grab the attention of the recipient..
Female friends on another site get inundated with mail from guys, I cannot imagine this place is any different..
Therefore when the sorting starts, you wanna be in the wheat pile and not discarded with the chaff

I think men struggle full stop.. regardless of the message.
I never write war and peace as a first message.. but thats just me. If someone wants to know more they can always respond. After all a bello goes along way in a pub or a club. |

"It doesn't matter what you write. If they are not attracted to you . They will not answer "
Very true.. But who can resist the charms of a cheeky cockney chappy. (searches desperately for the "are you taking the piss" emoticon!!) |

I usually attach a pic and a intro about myself like. Hello. I am a swedish guy from the land of snow and vikings..... then costume made it, depending on what they are after and then by luck they might reply lol |

And the weather
And the time of the month. "
What gets my/our attention one day, might not on another.
In general, a face pic and a short message that shows someone has read our profile ( when on show) is all that's needed. We always look at the profile of the sender first. |

Not true in our case. We'll reply if they've attached a face pic and made an effort.
Doesn't mean our reply will be a yes, let's meet. |

I agree with that
They can send the best written message but if I don't fancy them its going no further
Call me shallow |

I appreciate that reading the profile is important.. It can give a great insight into the person you are about to contact..
A good profile is great to read but they are few and far between.
A face pic I will only send once I verify the recipient is genuine.. Bad experiences for both myself and others on the previous site I inhabited..
