I think it does matter actually. My friends life experiences and history matter to me. It matters to me if they've struggled because of their race or sexuality. It matters what their cultural heritage is. It matters if they find men or women attractive (not least so that I can play matchmaker) and it matters what their gender is.
I'm not prejudiced against them because of those things, but they still matter. It matters because it's what makes them *them*. |

i dont think being a sexually fluid second generation immigrant makes the slightest bit of difference to who i am. Most black/asian/ethnic minority people of my age and younger are as british as you or i and their heritage doesnt make them "them" at all |

It doesn't matter. If you look at a person and define them by their colour, race, religion, sexuality, etc then you have a problem and are most likely trying to hide a deep rooted prejudice.

But the struggles that I've had because of my gender assignment are a big part of who I am. To ignore them is to ignore part of me.
My partner is a Roma Gypsy. If you 'don't see' his skin colour and racial heritage, then you're ignoring massives parts of who he is. |
