So in 2 weeks ive got my forced 2 week holiday from work.
Me and a few mates were meant to be going round europe on the bikes but with one having an off and another having surgery that week now (both fine but not up to riding around the continent) it's off.
So I'm going back to last years plan of roaming around the uk (will be getting a tent, and other camping gear this week)
The northen 500 route is definitly on the card so far but it'll be good to hsve a day or two off the bike and see some sights.
So where's everyones recomendations for things if natural or man made awesomeness in the country.
Fairy falls in wales has been suggeated so far by a friend |

I think thats the road ill be taking on the way to do the north 500 around the west coast.

Devils causeway near Aberystwyth. The sodding great man carved into a cliff that apparently guarantees you get pregnant if you fuck between the carvings legs. Gotta love folk tales lol. Monsal Head in Derbyshire is pretty epic too |

Anywhere in the lakes, pooley bridge is very quiet but out of the way.
You can't go wrong with the peak district, loads of nice places there.
Same with the Yorkshire sales, loads of countryside to see. Lots of touristy places as well |

If you're touring on a bike then the coastal roads from S Wales up to Snowdonia are amazing, the Snowdonia area is great with some fantastic biking roads |

Durdle door and along the jurassic coast is breathtaking, along to Lyme bay and the wessex route.
Hard clog very hilly.
Lake District is fine but road's very narrow and lot's of car's passing but hardnot pass is a must.
The Isle of Wight is great cycling and there is a large organised ride on the 17 round the island
65 miles ish.
Gloucester thru to Oxfordshire is some great cycling taking in bridlip hill the old Road is a cracker. |

Scotland has awesome roads and friendly locals on the whole, but the midges ARGHHHH!!!..
Why not aim for and end to end ride or 4 points of the compass, and add in the best suggestions from here. |

That was basicsly the plan last year right around the cost diving inland for the good bits of road.
Just my back isnt what it was these days so a few touristy places to visit and have a wonder about off the bike is more of a priority these days |

Mmm..MK isn't much fun n a bike. perversely in a car it can be a hoot. I cut through between home and office regularly and the fuel consumption plummets

Last time i went out in soho i was wearing a learher kilt, rainbow body paint and dragging people onto a stage to dance |

Snake Pass - it's in the Derbyshire section of the Peak District, crossing the Pennines between Glossop and the Ladybower Reservoir at Ashopton. A57 great on a bike in the summer time. |

You can't whack the Yorkshire Dales - Malham, Whernside, Pen y Ghent, Ingleborough and the beer is awesome, the people are smashing and if there was an omnipotent being he would call it his country. |

Giants Causeway,
Cork.
Scilly Isles.
Oxford
New Forest.
The Gower.
Kent as you can go over on the tunnel for a day too then. Around Winchelsea and Rye is pretty. |

absolutely nothing to see in Scotland, move along now;
Nothing here but cold, rain, hail & snow and its even worse in winter
as for roads, potholes every 10 or 15 feet, but most are less than 10 inch deep
Huge herds of _ed deer on the A9 (in their 100's) and they don't care if its a truck, car or bike they run out in front off
nope nothing to see in Scotland, that's what we say anyway, (want to keep the secret of Scotland to ourselves)  |

Got to be Pembrokeshire its fantastic with 180 miles of coast line and beautiful unspoilt beaches,Dolphins ,Sealions,the best places are Boucheston,Newgale,St Brides bay,Dinas,Pendine,Fresh water east and west ,scenery is breath taking.  |

Head to Ilford and immerse yourself in one of most wonderful multi cultural areas of Britain. The countryside is dead and stands as testament to our past. The inner city environment is our future. |

Agree. Get up to Skye. A wonderful island. Has everything..including those midgies ! I've been a few times on my bike. Stay in Bradford. The Dunollie hotel is OK. Basic en suite but the anvil bar is fantastic at the weekend. Full of friendly locals who love banter plus the local ladies can be very friendly indeed |

Bealach na Ba Road, (Applecross) is closed right now due to heavy rain and landslide, nothing to see here.
Perthshire is swamped out with T in the Park visitors roads are packed with traffic on A9 south and A9 North packed with golfers heading to inverness

I was about to suggest Dagenham Docks. There's a nearby power station and you're not far from the sewage works
It's being developed so you can do a before and after visit. |

whilst your north of the border visit the east coast and the beautifull lunan bay between Arbroath and Montrose three miles of unspoilt sandy beach with no arcades no shops just you and the tide peaceful little piece of heaven just off the A92 which in itself is a nice run along the coast from Aberdeen to Dundee |

minack theatre in cornwall is a sight worth seeing especially on a sunny day. looking over beautiful clear water. then you can travel the length of the country to the northern route. |

Head out to Castleton and go up winnats pass, preferably pick a moment when it's clear - windy with one of the steepest inclines you'll find. And if you follow the signs at the top it'll take you past the para gliders and out to an otter sanctuary! |

As you will be North of the Border, may be worth travelling through the borders to Northumberland, good camping at Beadnell and close to Bamburgh and lindesfarne, a lot of quiet roads around there as well, even in summer |

Aysgarth Falls in Wensleydale are beautiful, as is the rest of Wensleydale actually. The Northumberland section of the A1 and going up to Edinburgh is stunning, one of my favourite roads ever as it passes Lindisfarne. If you're down in Devon at all then Lydford Gorge is magical.

Wales was to be my offering but you'll know all the stunningly beautiful places and the mountain passes, having lived around Snowdon... Have a fantastically safe trip and I hope the road opens up to meet and great you on your travels x |
