Its a LINUX distibution, whoch is a free version of UNIX more or less
No it wont run everything yoru windows can, especially a lot of games if you use your PC for games at all
for other stuff like say MS Office, you will need to use a open source version, Openoffice is very good, and is compatable with MS Office |

thans, I don't use laptop for games so that won't bother me at all, noticed on their site it comes with Firefox so that's great as won't need to d/l that again, and it has Open Office, has own movie player etc., so looks like I will get it |

on the other side of the coin, it can run very many of the games, you can run many windows programs by using a combination of winE and cedega, my preference of web browser is google chrome rather than firefox which also works very well on nix |

I've just started running ubuntu on my spare pc. Looks good so far and you can run a few windows programs on it using a piece of software called 'wine'.
Have a look on youtube and you'll find lots of good (and bad) tutorials on getting to grips with ubuntu and installing windows software using wine. |

updates on ubuntu are very simple, just remember this lines to type in a terminal window "sudo apt-get update && apt-get upgrade -y"
and your system will be updated without any other input |
