Visit the Floating Flower Market, it's wonderful.

Ann Franks house is a trip back into history, very thought provoking.

Wander along by canals, take in a coffee shop or two a boat trip is lovely especially if you get the sunshine.

It's a great place for a break, have fun!

I would personally recommend barneys coffee shop make a killer latte and some of the finest herbal remedies. stay away from the rastas they will try to sell you cocaine. ride a bicycle ( no pun intended ) and embrace it. the boat trip is good and van gogh art gallery if that's your kinda thing. dam Is such a vibrant place. just enjoy every minute !

There is so much to enjoy there but make sure you have time to watch the sun go down whilst having a beer in Dam square. Pure bliss

Essex.

Canal trip by night was great.

Sex museum was okay, as was the torture museum.

Must admit I(Risky) was rather under whelmed with Anne Frank's house. I understood it but didn't get it, if that makes sense.

A coach trip to Maduradam and Volerdam was a good afternoon out.

A guided walking tour of the red light district was good.

Try stroopwafles, stamppot and visit La Place, Kalverstraat for a real food treat...

Sorry it was Volendam and Marken for the coach and ferry trip.

Madurodam is the large model village...Correct spellings this time...

Anne Frank museum is just a tourist trap.

I was there early and the queue was already round the block

I didn't go in.

In my mind I had a lonely yet tranquil experience, allowing me to commute emotionally to the early 1940's

Sharing that tiny 'sacred' place with 300 other tourists just didn't correlate.

I can understand that. It is empty inside to represent the emptyness left by the millions of Jews that died at the hands of the nazi's.

From my perspective it de-humanised the building.

I found it interesting but not moving.

Have no idea about swinging but there are a shed load of sex shows. I seemed to go in all the really seedy ones (unless they're all like that, lol)

I was at the ann frank house when there were very few others there, its not sacred, just a reminder of mans capacity to be cruel. That said amsterdam is a great city to just wander around and enjoy

Sex shows, red light district...

Try Club Sameplace, it starts getting busy about midnight, no entrance fee but a €20 minimum spend at the bar each. They run a tab so don't lose track of your spending...

Sameplace is great fun and so handy by taxi or tram (or even walking)

Sex shows are amusing - casca rosa is best (take the 3/4 drink option) and it pays for itself as Amsterdam drinks are expensive anywhere at £8 a vodka

Hire some bikes, the best way to see the city. Become a part of the place.

"Any one know where the blue light area is or if it is just mixed in with the red light area?"

Blue light area isn't really worth visiting tbh normally only a few windows open . There are a few gay bars up near it like prik which is probably the only decent one . But it's so rammed on a weekend you have to stand outside .

I felt the same about Auschwitz, being frog-marched around the place with another 1000 people and their guides did nothing for me. I felt that it was nothing more than another money-making enterprise and less of a tribute/remembrance of the people who suffered there.

I'll never forget Amsterdam in my life! Try visiting a coffee shop and getting back to your hotel... we walked around the same block about 20 times saying it's left here no its left over there. We still laugh about it 3 years on!
