Wealth in itself is not an attractive trait. Perhaps other traits that made you wealthy are though. The reason exceptionally wealthy but ugly guys manage to punch well above their weight is because they are a meal ticket. They are usually comfortable with this because they are either a) gullible idiots, or b) happy to suspend the disbelief about the situation.

I like an intelligent person. But I would far rather find that out for myself by talking to them instead of searching out those who announce their intelligence or love of (plus if you have to announce it then maybe it's nit as obvious as you think). I don't like being found attractive for merely one aspect of my looks or personality; it makes me think the person doesn't want me as a whole if they are fetishising one specific facet. |

I'm drawn to people who are intelligent and find it very attractive, though it's part of the mix for very casual fun. For more intimate and ongoing affairs then it's highly important and illuminates the rest of a person.
A great meeting of minds is intoxicatingly hot and highly charged. |

Yes, I find intelligence attractive.
It's not essential for NSA sex but bright, active minds are a turn on for me.
It's rare, but wonderful, to find someone whose mind excites me. If we connect physically as well as mentally then it's incredible. |

One of the most physically unattractive (to me) people I know is so completely on my wavelength that yes, I'd shag him in an instant.
I'd known him for a while before I really got to know and fancy him though so if I met him on here, probably not.
Ironically, his type is petite women so he's not interested in me. |

Your point was true though.
If he wanted to appeal to people attracted to intelligence, it wasn't the best advertising.
Sure, it was his choice to have them and by having them maybe he was 'marketing' himself honestly but you didn't say anything untrue. You may, ultimately, even have helped him find what he wants.
He asked a question and wasn't looking for advice, so the comment wasn't warranted but it wasn't untrue. |

Should he have had a picture of his GCSE results?
A degree of sarcasm? see what I did there? "

More interesting than a cock to me.
But no, exam results, particularly at GCSE level, are not an accurate indicator of intelligence. |

One the reasons one of my previous relationships didn't work out was although he was very intelligent, he had a major chip on his shoulder about not having a degree. He felt inferior to me, mentally and it affected his confidence badly. Nothing I said could convince him otherwise.
Degrees can be an indication of intelligence but not necessarily and lack of a degree is no relection whatsoever of level of intelligence.
Intelligence and education are not the same thing. |

I know a number of people with degrees (some have multiple) - all bar one of them I wouldn't trust to tie their shoelaces unaided!
Others I know have IQ's exceeding 150 yet very little qualifications.
The two do not always correlate |

I believe that is exactly what I was saying
The people I know from top 3 Russell group universities are all, without exception, glaringly intelligent. Some also have common sense and people skills; some don't.
Many of the other people I know with degrees make me wonder if they sucked off/licked out a lot of academics and exam invigilators. Some are brilliant. Some are not. |

I find these posts very interesting and useful for my hotlist. Its always nice to see guys saying they are interested in intelligent women because, in my personal experience, men are threatened by clever women. I'm not talking about degrees either, I'm talking about having a conversation and knowing more about something than they do.
I find I have to dumb myself down sometimes. |

Oh wow, I must be the complete opposite; I feel much more comfortable when I can see intelligence in a sexual partner first hand. I feel like I'd notice the dumbing down too, which would be a turn off. In general I'm less threatened and more enamored when I feel I can connect intellectually with someone |

Hi.
I'm Barry.(names changed to protect!)
I'm just me. I don't need to validate myself by stating how fast I can run, how many degrees I have, how much I earn or how many languages I speak.
I'm not to good for anyone or not good enough for anyone. In fact I'm just me. Comfortable in my own skin.

In my experience, those with intelligence have no real common sense!..
Broaden your experience. Or, just possibly, think what you mean by intelligence.

I find intelligent men attractive and I'm not a knob. It's nice to be able to have an interesting conversation with someone. I think some people are definitely threatened by intelligence. |

Personally for me one of the first things that attracted me to L was that she was easily my intellectual match. More than my match in fact.
I wouldn't call myself highly intelligent or anything like that, I can form an argument, which makes me sound smarter than my own self assessed position, and qualification level of "somewhat above average". She however is definitely a boffin.
It is funny though that we are bright in ways that are traditionally completely wrong for our gender. She's hard STEM, I'm far more social sciences and soft stuff.
We list as sapiosexual, and if people on here want to think that makes us knobs, thats fine, we aren't here to change for you. That's what we are attracted to. If others want to go play with people who can't form a complete word never mind a cogent sentence, that's your choice.
Personally I find it hilarious that people can be judgemental of people preferring intelligence while at the same time fine with the hysterical and often insanely unbalanced body elitism that goes on. Particularly as it pertains to the male posters. |

I fall for someone's mind and sense of humour first. But the physical attraction has to be there. I think. It's been so long since I last fell in love. That's what we're talking about right?
Cos if it's just sex, then I'm sorry. Physical attraction is first, but would have to then find out if we get along 2nd. I might be 'sapiosexualy curious' |

I don't think some people do recognise intelligence.
Some are taken in by complicated things that they don't understand, but which are actually bullshit, and they think the writer or speaker is more intelligent than they.
There was a post on here a few years ago when someone was spouting shit about law. They'd clearly copied and pasted from some conspiracy site. It even referred to a legal reference book which is American not English.
It was bullshit so I said it was bullshit.
The response from several people (not the poster) was just because I didn't understand it didn't make it rubbish.
So I had to take it apart bit by bit to explain why it was rubbish.
It referred to things like the "law of God" being the only law actually applicable and other total nonsense.
It sounded grand and complex so some just nodded and thought how clever the poster was.
Unfortunately it was giving really bad, potentially seriously harmful advice which is why I bothered to disprove it.
You can say any old shit and as long as you say it with absolute confidence and make it sound complicated, some will think you're Brainy McBrainbox. |

Maybe you're open to them rather than feeling threatened by them, as some are?
Some, who perhaps aren't as comfortable and as confident in themselves as you, find being with someone more intelligent makes them feel inferior. |
