I really don't get the point of shows like this. I remember watching something similar in the US where a guy was homeless and poor for a month and he showed what it was like...but these things never represent the true reality of the situation.
Could I be homeless and poor for a month? Sure. The real fear is in the unknown - not being able to tell yourself you'll have a home again in a month.
Same with this show. Could I go without all my material possessions for a while? Yeah. Forever? I'm not so sure. |

gotta say somethings I could easily do without, others would be so difficult these days.... I guess What you've never had you never miss. |

We think we need more than we really do, in terms of material possessions.
Some shelter, safe food and water is pretty much it materially.
But love and relationships with others, they're the real bed rock, helping us remain strong and nourished emotionally.
As for losing my things now ... that would definitely be tough. I often go away for a couple of months a year, where I take a small bag, merely enjoying the simple things. But I retain the knowledge that my home is elsewhere, where there's a pile of stuff waiting to be picked up again.
I'd be a little lost for a while - like when we go somewhere new if we're alone. But maintaining my own self-confidence would get me to resist the anxieties of not having stuff. Simple is almost always better - we just want to over-complicate our lives. |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
I've seen this now.
I like the fact that they went through their stuff on return and decided to get rid of some of it.
I have too much. Not quite the hoarder next door but too much.
I'd want to keep the bed, bedding, a telly, towel, toothbrush and toiletries. I could live like that for a month.
