To nasal douching!!!!
Get a 25ml syringe, fill with salt water and squirt up each nostril 6 times. Repeat hourly until mucus and blood no longer runs from nose into handbasin
I might have had the polyps and septum sorted, but the aftercare is not pleasant at all |

Deffo hourly, its to stop the area inside the nasal cavity becoming infected. Apparently, the mucus (normal snot) forms a warm moist barrier that holds in bacteria and stops scabs forming. You have to keep it washed away until the wound areas can scab over. This happens when no more blood is present in the mucus.
3 days after the surgery almost no trace of blood, but I daren't blow my nose yet |

I had an operation on my nose a few years back.
Now I had packing up my nose, in my head, it was just like bandges put up my nose, and they would be gently taken out when it was time.
Oh no.
Im sat on the edge of the bed, the nurse has the steal basin, holds it under my nose, puts on the gloves.....
And yanks....
What she yanks out is 2 super size tampons that were stuffed up there, how they got them in I dont no!
Thought my nose was going to collapse. The pain was awful. |

Nothing quite as extreme as a syringe but after a bad cold I will sniff up lukewarm water into my nose and then spit it out. It's not so difficult and the remants of the cold clear up much more quickly.
I usually also do it routinely after showering and brushing my teeth. You get used to it and it's good hygiene. |

Was common practice amongst coal miners. |

That was me on thursday morning, a student nurse pulled out two dressings the size of tampons from my nostrils. |

LOL. That how mine started. Hayfever for years. It was only last year when I was referred to hospital because of incessant sneezing, that they discovered what was up my nose. 5 polyps in the left nostril and 14 up the right nostril. Apparently polyps are like ruptures, constant sneezing forces tissue through a muscle wall where they hang down inside the nasal cavity.
Its a vicious circle, you sneeze and eventually get polyps, the polyps become infected and cause you to sneeze, creating more polyps. That along with a piece of the septum that had to be removed has made my life a true misery for the last 5 years. |
