"One of the most beautiful sounds I've ever heard was listening to a woman say 'Caerleon' in her Welsh accent. "
Caerleon is a very beautiful place. Lots of Roman stuff there. Left by the...umm...ancient Romans.
As you were... |

Love the welsh, Geordie, soft Irish, Lancashire and probably loads more accents, oddly enough I hate broad scouse accents which is odd because that's where I'm from myself |

You realise that geordie isn't the whole north east don't you. It's actually only a very small area. I'm originally from Durham and our accent is much more refined than the horrible harsh jawdeee one |

Indeed, I had a glorious view of it for a summer many years ago. Absence has only made the heart grow fonder... |

"Depends on the part of Wales you're from as the accent varies massively.
Some nice variations and some that make you cringe "
The Gogs and Taffs are almost different species
Up here in Deeside it's almost scouse
South West and Pembs not a very strong accent, Valleys another beast
Gwynedd is probably definitive Welsh |

Where I live there are a lot of English and a lot of the welsh speak Welsh ..
But the accent is a soft Welsh lilt... Nothing like South Wales..
And saying that, nothing like north west wales either ...
And although I live here, and have Welsh ancestry, I was born in England |

"And not one like for the Scottish accent
I love a Scottish accent. Scottish men are my downfall "
Always been a sucker for the Welsh accent, a young Welsh beauty in my younger days of being in the forces is to blame. Still not got the best of memories of the Brecon Beacons, and the local woman were pretty full on |

I love accents generally, an aspect of someone's uniqueness, as there are so many variations every few miles. Part of someone's make-up and truly fascinating, how they've all arisen and held strong - though estuary English is invasive across the country now too. |

I'm from Birmingham so have a predominately Brummie accent, but, I have lived in the Black Country for the last few years so a bit of Yam Yam has crept in.
However, I still say 'you' and not 'yow' or 'yam'.
Most people from outside the West Midlands can't seem to tell the difference anyway so I suppose it doesn't matter really. |
