Would it work? Is it the answer?
Gay Pride exists. People were persecuted just for having sex. Surely swinging is a similar issue.

Sounds like a good idea to me..it's wether people would openly declare they are swingers for such an event..as most like to keep private for many reasons. |

Those that are happy to be identified as Swingers are fine.
All marching naked apart from body paint into Trafalgar Square blowing a whistle and doing a samba dance isn't going to work for those that wish to be discreet and don't want all their families, friends and colleagues to see them indulging in a bit of free love and frivolity.
So a Swingers Pride will work to a point. The type of people devasted after being publically outed over the weekend probably won't be at the front of the procession banging that drum x |

I think it would work...eventually. At first it would be a bit of a curiosity, then all the really cool people would attend and finally Joe Public. It wouldn't stop the hard core who think anything other than missionary position for the purposes of conception is wrong though. |

More celebs are being 'outed' as swingers. I'm not sure if that helps.
I go to gay pride but I wouldn't go to swingers pride.

I wouldn't go to Swingers Pride simply because I feel that my private life is nobody's business but those I share it with and I don't have a burning desire to make swinging acceptable or more mainstream either because it's a choice unlike being gay. What I would go to is Mind Your Own Business Narrow Minded Hypocrites Pride and be at the front in a nice frock shaking a tambourine  |

You can't be discriminated against because you are a swinger, fucking multiple partners is not a protected characteristic. What services have you not been able to access because you swing?
People can not understand it and be nasty about it but that's not being discriminated that's just them being a dick.
The gay pride movement has done a lot for not just equal rights for gay/bi/transfer etc but for acceptance in society however there will always be that small minded cluster of people who refuse to accept any one slightly different to them or their small minded perception of how people should look and act and no amount of pride events will change their mind. |

We were interviewed for a tv documentary recently (nothing to do with swinging) when the presenter (a well known larger than life rapper) asked, "Are you swingers". As Caroline could lose her job for saying yes, she said, "We have an alternative lifestyle". So yes, we can be persecuted for it, so YES let's get out there and make being swingers acceptable! |

I really don't want people in my private life knowing what I do and I have no desire to walk round the streets advertising it

We each make a difference by being ourselves and sharing what we feel comfortable with, with those of our choice.
In Soho, hearing the bomb there and seeing the blood and injuries and was just in the USA, about to party at Florida clubs, does lift lgbt dangers to a different spectrum.
As swingers we're a minority but don't have the fuller depths of twisted hatred against us that other minorities do. Plus the LGBTF is inclusive of many of us who are friends of that community - it's not exclusive.

Id like to see more open discussion in the main stream thats not jeremy kyle or a shit rag surely there must be a decent newspaper willing to run an informative article written by swingers

Well we've always been proud of our lifestyle, however moving here at first we were gossiped about pretty heavily as people googled us and found our fab profile before we turned it off for search engines.
Took quite a bit of piss taking down the pub but what the fuck we stood our ground talked about it, lent out our books, eg Sex at Dawn, The Ethical Slut etc.
There are far too many people in the swinging community who just roll over and figuratively take it in the arse. Fucking stand up and take pride in your sexuality.
We swing and just about everyone we know knows it, including relatives and friends.
Has led to some interesting offers from the locals. |
