What is it with men who message saying 'I'm not what you are looking for but...,' and then they get all arsey when you say (politely) no thanks?

When will the idiots on here learn that if a woman says she want's slim/athletic, she wants slim/athletic. She doesn't want a slightly chubby guy who goes to the gym and is trying his absolute best to shape up. She wants slim/athletic!
If a woman says she wants guys 6 foot and over, she want's guys 6 foot and over. Not 5'10, not 5'11, not 5'11 and 63/64ths, 6 foot!
If a woman says "no body or pubic hair", it means no body or pubic hair. Not "well I keep it very short, trimmed and tidy". She wants you to look like a naked mole-rat!

I like those ones. It makes it simple to block them immediately because they already know why they've been blocked.
I still feel justified in blocking the ones who aren't what I'm looking for but didn't read my profile, but I'm always aware they won't know why they've been blocked and will probably pop up on here at some point, moaning about all the bitches that block them for "no reason".

i don't have half that stuff up, all i have is age ranges. apologising for being 10+ yrs out of them is stupid. i've even rarely had guys 20+ yrs out of them doing this.

I have preferences but if you get chatting and the banter is there then sometimes you can see past it and someone who is respectful and funny and easy going in my eyes is way more important than if he's 5"11 rather than 6" Mrs A x |

Now you see, I look at the profile first. As I have (when visible) "I will not respond to anyone outwith what I'm looking for" on mine, if they don't, the message is deleted unread.
I'm getting old, I don't have the time or inclination to repeat myself. The result? Seven angst free enjoyable years on Fab, no trauma, drama or abuse because I'm in control.

Not really. Being a cunt guarantees not getting what you want.
Sometimes being nice gives you a chance of getting what you want.
However, if you're outside someone's age range or other states preferences, messaging anyway ain't being nice. If they wanted messages from people of your age/height/whatever, that/those traits would be included in their preferences on their profile.
Anyone who thinks they were nice in their message to someone whose profile criteria they didn't meet, is deluded. They basically sent spam they knew wasn't wanted.
A lot of guys - and possibly some women/couples, though I don't recall ever seeing any - moan about being blocked "for no reason ". There's always a reason. |

This ain't the site for everyone.
Some men get frustrated as their expectations aren't being met, some women's demands are excessive, something they possibly wouldn't achieve in real life.
Combination of the 2 results in said men getting all shitty at any rejection possibly more so when they think the woman was punching above her weight in the 1st instance.....said woman gets pissed off & ups her preferences even more...viscious circle ensues!
Obvs that doesn't apply to all & sundry but you get the gist..... |

Reading profiles is what makes it easier for us, we may like the look of someone, but if there are things that are not compatible with us or they are strict in what they like, we will never approach them, what is the point? there are always other people. Generally, you eventually find people who you like and they like you also. It think sometime people think its a free for all, but really and trully it isn't. Rapport, trust and respect are really big here. |

There are for many hard rules and soft rules, hard rules are definite no no's which tend to be written in profiles. Soft rules rarely get mentioned in profiles and they tend to be very flexible. You are right that taking a chance could mean it may happen, however people also got to respect that no does indeed mean no, just because someone gets rejected it does not mean they should get nasty with it. Like I said before just because people are on here does not necessarily mean its a free for all. |

Height is non negotiable to me. Age is more a preference, and anything else I would consider at the time. I get stick for the height thing all the time but I'm not about to change my mind so I just delete and block if they persist. |

The trouble is, it's not always clear if people's age/height/weight etc ranges are hard and fast limits, or merely guidelines.
For example, as a general rule I'm not that interested in women under 25. That doesn't mean I would never consider messaging one though, it would just reduce the chance of it. It's a minor, not a major. |

I had one this morning although he didn't get arsey with my reply.
My frustration with these messages leaked out a bit though.
On the one hand I don't think being blunt with someone who has knowingly ignored what I've said is unreasonable, whilst on the other I think I ought to just block and move on without telling them how much I appreciate them ignoring what I want because it doesn't fit what they want. |
