on the road to nowhere in particular

Along with nearly 20,000 others and 35,000 casualties

Every one of them deserves our respect

Today in Plymouth I met a soldier walking at the head of a line of what I assume consisted of the rest of his squad, all looking smart in full uniform. To a man they walked in silence. Sullen, sad & angry. I stopped to watch them walk on by and as they passed the soldier reached into a pocket & without speaking or breaking stride he handed me a card bearing his name.

One million soldiers killed or wounded from all sides, fighting for our freedoms, freedoms we use to argue, to bicker, to be hateful and hurtful to one another.

RIP the hero's from all sides.
