If his rivals are willing to risk losing Froome won't win. If his rivals are happy to race fir second place Froome will win easily.
Would love to see Cav get yellow today |

Newcastle and Gateshead |
this years route is definately one for the climbers (even the time trials this year are uphill) so it will be a frome quintana shootout for me...
if quintana and contador decide to gang up on froome it will be interesting... otherwise team sky will isolate them...
i do believe quintana will win...
today may be the most interesting day.... because they will be hugging the coast look out for crosswinds... and groups are going to end up minutes apart....
if you are going to be a gc contender today....you have to stay near the front rather than just hiding in the middle of the pack.... |

EPO is more use than speed!
Whilst all sport have drug cheats potentially I think the tour is a hell of a lot cleaner than before
The fact the athletes know the samples are kept and they can be retrospectively done as well is a useful deterrent, as the Russian athletes are finding out at the moment
And re Quintana I agree - if he can't beat Froome on this course he'll never do it |

Normal contenders again. Quintanna I think has matured and no longer a lad.
Be a very interesting three weeks and always is.
My biggest concerns are security this is by far the biggest annual sporting event in France if not Europe.
What with the football going on as well, security services will be stretched to say the least.

My favourite month of the year, always enjoy the tour, been to watch it three times many years ago, it's still funny thinking about driving down a road for 30 miles looking for a space!!.
My bets on contador as it was last year |

Would like to think Froome will get it this year but he's going to have his work cut out for him as he's got a massive target n his back. Not sure what his form is looking like so fingers crossed but that said look out for Peter Sagan, he's a great all rounder so he could well be up there.
Would like to see Cav getting some more stage wins his year |

I'm not riding this year as I'm saving myself for the olympics...
I'd like to use this forum to rightly say a big congratulations to my mate, Mark.
And to say that I hope Chris froome develops an extremely painful case of bottom boils. |

It has been a great tour so far. Shame Yates appears to have missed his chance at yellow but he's leaving a fantastic tour. And Froome's attack yesteady was impressive.

"Yeah I think there is alot more to it than just the crash. But your right he has not looked right all tour.
Shame coz I love watching him when on form. "
It is being reported that he was ill over night.
I like him too and am glad he has reconsidered his planned retirement. I do wonder if he will regroup now and target Roo. |

"Quintanna is playing it very cleverly. "
And e looks very comfortable.
But despite most of them being unproven at this level the top 10 is incredibly tightly packed. The gap between 1st and 10th is smaller than the gap between 1st and 2nd normally is at this stage. |

Crazy scenes today with Chris Froome running up the mountain
A camera bike had to stop suddenly on Mt Ventoux as spectators crowded in, causing a pile up
It's about time there were crowd controls in place. ...
Earlier this week Froome had to elbow a spectator to get him out of the way |

"I was watching it live and I've now got highlights on......I've just missed the beginning but are they looking into something ref standings?? "
Froome was in a crash caused by a combination of crowds and tv bike, trashed hin bike lost time and effetively lost yellow but same as with Yates last week he's been given an adjusted time and kept the jersey

They should have considered crowd control when they shortened the stage. Huge crowds were always expected for this staget, it didn't exactly take foresight to work out what might happen squeezing them ibto a shorter section |
