And there was a high chance you wouldn't get it for when you needed it would you A) just turn up at their house demanding they hand it over or B) go and ask at the citizens advice on how to get it or C) non of the above or find another way?

Somewhere in North Norfolk

Cut their legs off and ransom them.

Never lend money you can't afford never to get back. Ideally never lend money; gift it or don't give it.

i always write off lent money before i even lend it, it's easier that way and less hassle to my head.

and i never lend to anyone who has previously not paid me back on another loan. and if anyone gives me the vibe of using for me money they are out of my life.

didn't answer your question but that's how i work. i don't have massive amounts of money to lend so it's not a big deal to me when i do.

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

I have lent money to my best friend and never got it back. But I knew I never would as she'd never be able to.

I'm not aggrieved by this. She has repaid me in many other ways.

If you don't want to lose a friend, write it off.

Or simply don't loan it out in the first place.

To get your earnings by Friday there's not a lot legally you can do.

How ever if you're sure a contract has been formed and thee was a timescale for payment then maybe you could charge them costs you incur because of their non payment?

CAB is pretty much useless.

Depending on amount to an take them to court online and within a month they will have CCJ and a demand for money plus interest owed. You could threaten them with that before hand.

Under a grand and it's not worth the hassle really if it's a close mate in tough times, for example.

Actually no. This started from a situation to do with moving my horses to a new yard. He said he knew someone that owed him a favour so he would sort my transport out and I wouldn't have to pay. Alarm bells should've rang but I trusted him. I have not alot of spare cash I haven't been able to work properly the last 3 years due to illness so it was what I thought a big help. I helped the guy sell something to someone that his business manufactures. The agreement was I would get so much % commission for doing it. The favour fell through. So no free transport. I now need to pay someone who is coming on Friday to move them. Hence why I need the money by then which he was supposed to bring today. With all my other bills I don't have enough money and can't change the moving day

don't suppose there's any way you can get the money directly from the people you sold something to? and give him the rest minus your cut.

I'm not into horse racing. My grandad did have the gift of picking winners but he has dementia now so can't really ask him. I won some money on the national a few years back. He picked 10 horses and out of the 10 8 finished in the top 10. Plus he picked the winner. Jammy sod!!!
