We've created a new politics section. Please post politics threads there. Mods will move the threads to the right place
That way if you're interested in political stuff, it's easy to find it. And if you're not, it's easy to ignore it

Yeah it was so hard to avoid those threads. I kept clicking on threads titled referendum, brexit, and the like, thinking I'd be able to read about whether big tits are better than small or does cock size really matter and they turned out to be about politics!  |

They might have been easy to avoid but the sheer volume of them was overwhelming making if hard for those not wanting political debate to find threads they were interested in. This has been a long time coming I think and thank admin for sorting it out. |

Have to say, I disagree.
The lounge is a much nicer place now every other thread isn't descending into arguments. Although I'm a political animal, I stay away from the politics forum and enjoy the fab forums experience far more for it. The one or two political threads that still slip the net are illustrative of the nastiness and black/white thinking that comes with the territory. |

I miss having a broad range of views on political subjects as the politics forum seems to be populated by the same handful people (maybe 2 handfuls on a good day).
As long as contributors continue to argue the same things, ad nauseam (regardless of the actual topic), it will remain nasty and, worse than that, boring.
For that reason I think it should remain segregated from polite ( ) society.

I miss the lounge not having a broader section of topics, as some subjects have politics within them but aren't 100% politics.
The lounge is worse off for not having it Imo but recognise that others say it can be harsh. That may be due to its isolation. |

I agree we miss the more socio-political threads, such as "Should all women be chained to the sink", "Can Ukippers really be racist if they have a dark tan", "Should a woman wearing trousers be allowed to use the Gents" and "Is it okay to rape someone so long as you're a footballer"
The closest we get now is "If a couple/woman doesn't agree to duck me at least once a month, should they be thrown off the site as fakes?"

I think things had reached a bit of a tipping point with the EU referendum and I can understand why it's all been hived off, but the Lounge was better when there was more variety and the political threads were better when they had more posters than the same 5 people arguing with each other. Both are poorer for it, IMO. |

I don't even find anything interesting or of much substance in the lounge these days, I don't like small talk and love to hear different views on things. I agree with the opinion that socio political posts have nowhere to go now ... so they are lost. Politics is more than party politics and more than government. |

I disagree that they are harsh - I first discovered internet forums back when I was in my late teens, and the first forum I participated in was a political one. The guy who ran them didn't believe in censorship, so unless you made an actual threat against a poster, anything went. It was a total bear-pit and there were some incredibly intelligent posters on there (and there still are, I believe).
The politics forum here has just become inane. The same people repeating the same viewpoint over and over in ever more hysterical tones. It's dull, there's no proper debate really.

The last place I inhabited was topsy-turvy. It was inhabited by left-wingers who hunted in packs.
I coxed the right-wingers out of their hiding places and started a thread to celebrate their right to be right and how tediously right-on the left-wingers were.
It went well.
Right up to the end where I posted:

The EU referendum perhaps came a little too hot on the heels of the last general election, I don't know. But inappropriate ill-will targeted at some people has no place here in Fab - whichever forum part it's in.
I really prefer an open topic lounge, covering more than swinging bits and bobs. |
