Be vigilant everyone who might be at risk.

Hopefully these are just random incidents but you never know.

Whichever way you voted, don't let the haters in. Remember this is a great tolerant country we live in and racism has no place here.

It's probably what was in the closet for many all along that was disguised as 'I'm not racist I just dont like the EU administration'.

Since the leave vote was won there's no need to keep it in the closet anymore I guess. Noticed this from many friends of friends on social media. Sad as although 48% of the vote wont stand out as they're not voicing any pure and simple, insecure, racist xenophobic hatred & shyt.

A mass chunk of the media/press inherently stir up insecure, racist xenophobic hatred & shyt then report on it like it was fcuk all to do with them stiring up crap in some minds.

They're a reflection of their owners.

Anyone who's daft enough to believe purely the EU or immigrants are the cause of ALL this countries woes must seriously have grey matter issues or ignorant to the reality govt, corporations, banks.

Sadly freedom of speech allows extreme opinions from both ends of the spectrum to be voiced and evolved.

It's happening right now.

This afternoon, a friend of mine, English born Sikh, she is a lawyer and more English than the English, " second generation" immigrant, was accosted in a cafe by a " respectable- looking" man who said;

From what I've seen they've just been reporting what's happening.

It seems groups are now campaigning on the streets to have EU migrants repatriated. The Mirror mention it at the bottom of an article with a photo, there's nothing salacious about the reporting.

Is that not news?

Maybe such clowns should be disliking, taking offence at the likes of Blair & Co. Look at the sons & daughters, mums & dads, brothers & sisters who we're sacrificed or maimed in a war based on fabrications & lies.

For some barmy reason war mongering politicians are acceptable and no big deal. When the knock on effect of their actions lands on our shores people get xenophobic about the effect whilst blissfully ignoring or conveniently not able to workout the cause.

Nuff from me tho grrrr

FGS bad stuff is happening and the people who are doing it are using the Brexit victory to validate their actions. The sooner all of us, no matter which way we voted act to condemn and disassociate ourselves from it the better. Sinking further in to blame and insult will just allow it to continue while backs are turned busy name calling.

I lived in South Wales more than 10 years, and during this period i have been faced to racism many times especially at work.

Although i reported racist behaviuor of employees to company management, they did not do anything, and i had to report incidents to police.

I got in depression and lived on anti depresant tablets for a long time.

Luckily i found a job in Essex at amultinational company, and left Wales.

Sometimes i travel to Wales to spend weekend at my home, but i always try not to get in touch with locals and try not to speak my native language with my wife when we are out.

I don't know why people are saying its not true or over exaggerated. People on here were posting blatantly racist and xenophobic posts before the referendum. Why would we think that they suddenly change once the votes are in?

People are just letting their inner voice take over now they think they'll have a mandate for their behaviour.

You can do something about this.

When you see someone being racially abused in the street, get your mobile phone out and phone the police. Report to them that you're witnessing a hate crime and then loudly tell them exactly what's happening and give them an accurate description of the person while they're still standing there. Make sure that they and everyone around you are aware that you are reporting them to the police.

Make it completely unacceptable to do this. Make everyone around you aware that you do not condone racism.

Sadly, no. As I said on a previous post my white friends and colleagues were shocked at the racist comments they've been hearing. Don't know a single black person who is.

Saddened, yes...shocked? Nah!!!"

The people who are shocked are those who have likely never worked with immigrants or who have just been deaf to it happening all around them. Like when people say 'well I've never seen sexism happening so it can't be true'... well it is. And racism is all around us.

The leave vote has legitimised these peoples views. It's given them permission to spout their bile in public. Not all those who voted to leave were racists... but all the racists think that the leave voters are on their side.

It's just an example of disgusting small-mindedness, and it doesn't stop at racism. Standing in the post office queue on Wednesday I had to ask a man to stop being racists and saying that the 'bloody foreigners' should all go home - referring to the Western Asian man in front of me. He then started to spout a load of rubbish about how I was clearly a sympathiser, clearly on benefits, and that I obviously have loads of kids so that I can get more benefits.

The racism has come out, but the racist views don't come on their own. These people are also less likely to believe that women are equal and other similar grim views.

I don't know how anyone is surprised that this is happening though. The biggest downside to voting to Leave was always going to be that it legitimised racism and made many Brits feel unsafe in their own country.

Sorry but I believe parties like ukip have become the acceptable face of racism ..said so before the campaign and during it ..if you voted out you have been seen by the supporters of parties like ukip bmp and British First as supporting their views ..there acting now on what they feel the nation wanted ...repatriation of any immigrant first generation second gen or third gen .... Make sure that they and everyone around you are aware that you are reporting them to the police.

Make it completely unacceptable to do this. Make everyone around you aware that you do not condone racism."

.

I very much agree!

"I think the press are just stiring shit. Like the remain voters who are ignorant enough to think all leave voters are racists and voted soley on imigration

This bugs me too for some reason people forget tabloids sell based on scandal and drama they are having a field day with this

From what I've seen they've just been reporting what's happening.

It seems groups are now campaigning on the streets to have EU migrants repatriated. The Mirror mention it at the bottom of an article with a photo, there's nothing salacious about the reporting.

Is that not news?

I wouldnt read the mirror if you paid me. Thats one article though. Tbh i dont hold much stock by any of them. But i have followed a few including the m.e.n its been crazily shit stirred you must of seen that? The best bias is subtle theres been nothing subtle about it though.

I dont deny there are racists and idiots jumping on it and making it about that.

But leaving the eu didnt mean scrapping everything that was involved in being in it. It means to me the freedom to choose to uphold which parts are right for our country and it would be a damn shame if the goverment decided to go back on the freedom to tra el and work etc. After all most parties wanted that didnt they?

I don't read the MEN.

All I know is that we now have public demonstrations calling for EU migrants to be repatriated that we didn't have before.

Or maybe it has always happened but they just weren't reported. "

Course it hasnt but its clearerly going to be dramtised as the views of more than most and its naive to think otherwise.

"I normally just flick through the Brexit and EU threads without commenting, however I just feel the need to have a say on this particular subject...

No disrespect ment but to say all this racist crap is a consequence of the EU vote to leave is a pile of shit! These small minded racist wankers exist in the UK wether were in or out of the EU! And racist attacks similar to the ones reported have been happening all the time long before last Thursday, they are just using the vote result as a pathetic attempt at justifying their bullying actions this time!

I definitely do not condone what these racist scum bags are doing, but they certainly do NOT represent the "leave" voters as they would have done these horrible things either way!

The Leave vote hasn't made people racist, no. But it seems to be giving racists more confidence in spouting their bile in public, so I dont think its true to say this would be happening either way.

The out campaign should have made it clear immigrants are welcome and the never pushed that point home ..sorry but if you voted out you only have yourself to blame ..."

Blame for what? It's only been 3 days! There were a lot more reasons to vote out other than the one your dwelling on. I weighed them all up before voting

This bugs me too

It was stirred up during the campaign don't close your eyes to it blaming it on the media ..the leave campaign was based around immigration....ukip's policy in 2014 was repatriation not immigration...

Oh i know it was and tbh i paid no attention to the leave campaign. The remain one i did i wanted to be swayed. That was based on tolerence well thats the word they liked to use. Not very tolerant now though is it? The name calling going on is just childish. Both sides campaigns were a shambles imo.

It was on the cards to happen which ever side won ..once hatred is stired up its hard to put it back in the closest ..might have helped if the leave side had come out and said who ever is here when brexit happens will be staying and we welcome them to stay and prosper with us ... "

Yes it might of and unfortunately the main voice in leave was ukip and yes they preyed on that element.

It makes me feel disgusted to hear this kind of thing going on. I've always believed Britain to be a cosmopolitan and diverse country, the vocal minority couldn't belie the tolerance that I thought we had for other cultures. It makes me sick to think of the simmering racism that is being expressed as a result of the referendum

I have no truck with racists

Look at it this way there is as the vote has shown over 17 million people that want out of the EU, the only party that has campaigned for that is UKIP . DC offered the referendum to stop UKIP gaining dozens of seats in parliament at the last election( remember they WON the last eu election) as he knewthere was a large number of people who wanted out of the EU, he never guessed he would win a majority but thought it would be another coalition and could blame the lib dems for stopping him holding it, when he got the majority he had enough eu sceptics that he knew he would have to hold the referendum, he thought he would win, again he guessed wrong and I know a lot of you remainers are pissed off but consider this, the result has taken away the raison'etre for ukip so they will fade away and take the extreme racists with them,if those that want the gov to ignore the vote or have another got their way ALL those who voted out would vote ukipat the next election to ensure OUR majority was acted on,this would allow the nutters more airtime etc, you should be grateful for the out vote if you want to stop ukip, their work is done

I think its pathetic of people on here to label everyone who voted leave as a right winger. a closet racist/xenophobic to mask their own disappointment in losing the referendum...

33 million people voted and 52% agreed to the ideology of the UK deciding what it wants to be and the direction it want to go by itself.

It's easy to see how it comes to that.

There are a lot of people on social media saying that every Leave voter bears responsibility for this wave of racism.

The view seems to be that there is no-one who voted Leave who wasn't aware that the campaign was pandering to a section of the population who are, at best, racist and xenophobic.

So they are saying that if someone has voted Leave, they purposely chose to throw their lot in with a campaign to stir up racial hatred in our country in 2016, and ignorance of the potential result is no excuse.

What do people think? I'd be interested in the views of any Leave voters who disagree on this. Not my view necessarily, but thousands are saying this, so there must be something in it maybe?

I've experienced Racism in this country from the moment I came here. I hail from a part of the world that is openly talked about on here in very derogatory tones. I experienced it long before the referendum and will do to the end of my days.

This has given a platform to the ignorant who were probably too stupid or idle to vote anyway.

Leavers are not inherently racist and should not shoulder the responsibility of a stupid minorities actions. To say so lacks a certain something.......

I didn't vote that way, I'm just simply saying that the association of xenophobia shouldn't tar everyone by association. There were many reasons to vote for leave and most people that voted are neither racist nor xenophobic, you can't accuse 52% of people that voted as racist

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

For those apologists who are giving a whole raft of excuses about how it's not racism - wake up. You can assert whatever you like.

You can post HHUUGGEE long posts cataloguing infinitesimally all the 'facts' of the matter.

The simple fact is that many racists who have generally stayed hidden feel somehow validated and are making themselves visible.

Now, the Leave vote did not make them racist. The media hasn't turned them instantly into racist.

They were already bloody racists.

They've always been there.

The only issue we need to concern ourselves with now is what to do about it.

It MUST be tackled. I never want to go back to the 70s when I was a kid.

And that should start on forums like these.

Over the time I have been posting (a few years ) I have noticed a racist element. Oh they've been very careful to couch what they say in 'acceptable' terms. But make no mistake.

They are here.

Some have come and gone but there's always some.

And I'm dismayed in the extreme that racists seem to inhabit every level both in the real world and the Internet world.

Do I believe that everyone who voted to leave are racist, no of course not..

Do I believe that those that we have in our society who are racists saw the referendum as an opportunity to further their cause, of course they did..

Do I believe that those who are racists will be empowered, rejuvenated and feel that their actions are justified as part of the campaign was to reduce immigration then yes of course..

Do I believe that this aspect is a national disgrace and one which shames us and makes us look less and less like the tolerant, fair minded country we used to be them yes..

Have crimes will increase, by how much who knows..

I definitely do not condone what these racist scum bags are doing, but they certainly do NOT represent the "leave" voters as they would have done these horrible things either way!

Who said they were representing Leave voters?

They don't. They undoubtedly represent some of them though I imagine.

This is what we get when we allow political figures of dubious ethics a platform.

Anyone who doesn't see a correlation between major public figures and media campaigns with (in this instance)Xenophobic/racist overtones and either subtle or overt racism as a knock on is pretty stupid. Well.Maybe naive.

"For those apologists who are giving a whole raft of excuses about how it's not racism - wake up.

I don't think we're going back to the bad old days, the world's moved on people have moved on, sure a small minority won't, a small minority still drink drive, a small minority still drive while on the phone, a small minority don't wear a seat belt....

That's not mainstream, to claim it's mainstem is a gross exaggeration..... Society drags the minority along with it, sometimes the minority drags the majority down in their progression, but that's only because we have to be all inclusive in a democracy.....

Off course the opposite of democracy is totalitarianism, where we shoot people who don't have mainstream views?.

"You can do something about this.

Make everyone around you aware that you do not condone racism."

Exactly! I voted leave for many reasons and actually felt the need to post a picture of my mixed race daughter on FB to remind my so called friends that I embrace multiculturalism and that just because I have faith in this little island being able to go it alone does not make me racist. I kept my mouth shut for ages but the venom I was reading got me so riled I reacted. I just don't understand why people aren't respecting each other's decisions. And as for the scum who are preaching this racist bullshit at immigrants I hope they rot.

the petri dish called the referendum contained an agar named leave upon which a virulent strain of racism has been growing like a virus ..... a great many folk denied this and even more people pretended not to notice this happening ..... now we are at a time and place where people are being openly abused and attacked on the streets and still the there are those with their head in the sand.

just what the f**k did some people think was happening or what the end result would be???? well it's too late now coz this genie is going to be one mutha-fucka to get back into the bottle.

I share your fears. I just hope that it will produce a countering backlash with even greater ferocity. It might even make it leaving something of a success if this in turn is a success.

I don't know if there's been any reliable data conducted, but I hazard to guess that many views which progressives might term xenophobia may be significantly located in older voters. Sadly many will be voters of all ages from the working classes also.

Sad.

Understandable to an extent, although i think the blame for that lies in shit governments from the 70s and 80s(albeit Labour unintentionally and the Tories.Well. The opposite of that) fucking over industrial communities(plus unions who seemed hell bent on destroying eevrything they proclaimed to work for), plus many parts of the media.

Let's hope something good can come out of this.

London - till 25th

I posted this in the Scottish forum, but its as valid here as it was there..

Many conflate the SNP as being Scotland.

Where as the SNP only represent the views of the SNP.

What a narrow view our country has these days. We have forgotten our history and become insular little folk.

No more do we look beyond our borders but sit with our pride going wha's like us and expecting the world to give us a living.

Our eyes have been forced to the floor, gazing at our national navel. Instead of looking towards the horizon seeking chances and embracing change.

The petty racist that hides within all of us has been encouraged to believe it's their fault. Never ours.

The future is what we grasp, what we make.

At the most simple level, you are responsible for you. The fact you don't have a good job tends not to be due to "them" but due to the fact you sat at school and were a complete and utter Dick head.

There seems to be a defensiveness about some Leave voters who are misunderstanding that we all know full well that not all Leave voters are racist or xenophobic. Far from it - the majority certainly are not! But in that defensiveness some are missing the point that the racist scum-bags we have in this country - have *always* had - are feeling emboldened and justified by the tone of the Leave campaign and then the fact that it won. They think they have popular support for their obnoxious views which they have kept more subdued up to now, but now feel justified in spouting in public - even acting on when they see womeone they just don't like the look of.

Please, please; put aside the defensiveness and understand what is being highlighted here - first by normal people in social media, and only *then* by the press who have picked up on it - there has been a dramatic increase in aggressive and xenophobic occurrences since the referendum result. It needs all of us, Leavers and Remainers, to let these twats know that their obnoxious viewpoint is *still* just as unacceptable as it was before Thursday.

If your telling me that the solution was the EU, I'm gonna disagree because quite frankly most of the EU is far more racist than the UK!, sure the EU might elevate nationalism, but I'd argue it's done a shit job of that given the current circumstances were in.

My Argument is you don't cure these things easily or quickly, there generational problems, where society moves along, there helped by people not being subjected to a 40 year wage recession from fucked up politics, sure it would make things a damn sight easier if you didn't ram polish up agaist Slovakians against British... But if you ask people to identify themselves by things like.... Are you welsh, English, Slovakian.... Or Jamaican and then tell them they have a unique culture, tell them there different, tell them there language means something, there dress sense, there music, there heritage... Then what the fuck did you think was going to happen?.

I can cure all your problems very easily with totalitarianism, we'll just take everybody out you disagree with and shoot them!!.

Then again I'm a right wing environmentalist I think you all need shooting for flying??? You see how that works???.

Laws against it? Aren't you the guy who said laws didn't matter and we didn't need them? "

.

Laws come about from majority change, we've changed as a society, that's why the laws changed, laws won't protect you, they never have, society protects you, laws are just a written admission that society has moved on!.

"For those apologists who are giving a whole raft of excuses about how it's not racism - wake up.

And I'm dismayed in the extreme that racists seem to inhabit every level both in the real world and the Internet world. .

The problem is that the minority is a significant one. .

So you base this on fact! Either way it makes little difference, the majority have got together and said don't tolerate it. There's laws against it.

Of course not all leave voters are racists but all racists voted leave Id bet. The leave campaign's brazen use of immigration as a bogeyman has, perhaps unwittingly, legitimised that sort of behaviour. That prick with the tee shirt has no doubt always been a racist moron, however he has somehow, in his tiny mind, come to the conclusion that it is now fair enough to announce his rampant racism since leave have won.

Treat others with the same level of respect that you deserve and don't tolerate anyone else making others uncomfortable or fearful.

The people here can likely stay here, so the situation will not change - some monkeys thought there'd be mass deportation.

Forgive me if I sound a bit emotional.

I met my best friend yesterday. She is from Eastern Europe, as are the friends was with. She came here 10 years ago and has worked full-time ever since. Her friends have set up a business that employs people (not solely other immigrants from that part of the world),

They are wonderful people, who love the UK and are an asset to this country. I am lucky to know them.

They are tough as old boots, but they're scared. One has already been told to "f**k off you Polish ****, we've taken our country back" as he was working. I've never seen them

like this - palpably shaky and cowed.

Do I think 17 million people are racist. No way. However, a segment of the leave vote are utterly vile, depressingly stupid people. I suspect it's dawned on leading lights in the leave campaign (like Hannan) that they won because of a dangerous alliance with these people. These politicians realise they can't get a settlement that will be seen as taking control back properly and are concerned at the potential backlash.

Depressing times tbh.

Similar situations are being heard around the country.

It's clear that people who voted Brexit have helped to allow people with disgusting racist views to feel confident in making them public.

Having said that, I believe that there are some Leave voters who aren't racists.

"If you genuinely believe that the Brexit vote wasn't helped along by xenophobia, then I feel sorry for your naivete affliction. There is obviously a sizeable population out there that voted out for racist reasons."

What evidence do you have for the very sweeping statement?

"For those apologists who are giving a whole raft of excuses about how it's not racism - wake up.

And I'm dismayed in the extreme that racists seem to inhabit every level both in the real world and the Internet world. .

The problem is that the minority is a significant one. .

So you base this on fact! Either way it makes little difference, the majority have got together and said don't tolerate it. There's laws against it.

It's no good just shouting IT'S RACISM we know it's racism, what's the cause, what's the solution?.

Aren't you the guy who said laws didn't matter and we didn't need them? .

Laws come about from majority change, we've changed as a society, that's why the laws changed, laws won't protect you, they never have, society protects you, laws are just a written admission that society has moved on!.

Laws don't protect you, but society does? I don't get it. I know we've disagreed on this before, but enlighten me.

Are you really a right wing environmentalist? If so that's pretty cool(although i find it hard to see how environmentalism and a belief in a free market can co exist currently.Even though I think they could)..

Free markets are just that!.

Environmentalism is just that.

Are you telling me that humans can't grab one belief while living under the other?.

If you answer that question we might get somewhere to what racism is and how to best solve it?.

What dismays me about the left is there more than happy to Champaign things that septate us because they think these things are good but then are completely bewildered by separatist movements that involve the very things they've banged on about!

God no not all. I'm glad that everyone doesn't fall into a neatly categorized stereotype. We seem to agree on one thing at least(can't get my head around why David Bellamy was so against wind farms though?)!

What was that about the left championing things that seperate us as being good though?"

.

David Bellamy is a bit of a plonker where climate change is concerned but has some valid points about wind turbines and bird life!.

Free markets can be great things but you have to remember they reflect the general populations bad side as well as there good side

"the petri dish called the referendum contained an agar named leave upon which a virulent strain of racism has been growing like a virus ..... a great many folk denied this and even more people pretended not to notice this happening ..... now we are at a time and place where people are being openly abused and attacked on the streets and still the there are those with their head in the sand.

just what the f**k did some people think was happening or what the end result would be???? well it's too late now coz this genie is going to be one mutha-fucka to get back into the bottle.

It was about far more than beeping immi-bloody-gration! But leave was always going to be jumped on by those inbreds. Doesnt mean the majority of leave voters hold their views or agree in anyway. Doesnt mean they shouldnt vote for what they believe in because of some inbreds.

It doesn't mean that they don't either.

As you say it was well known that the far-right would use it as a platform.

The subconscious can lead us to do many things. "

So your saying subconciously all leave voters are racist??

Unfortunately racism exists in every country on this planet and the media and politicians will jump on this band wagon, I for one (Mrs) am tired of people putting immigration and racism in the same box they are 2 different things, I have a son who is mixed raced but voted out, part of my reason was immigration but not because of a person's race, I also had many other reasons, a racist is a racist and not a person I wish to be associated with that did not mean I or many other millions of people should have voted in,

^^There's logic^^. Something's not happening in my existence so anyone suggesting it's happening in their existence is talking a load of shit.

I'm sure it's not happening on every corner and not from everyone but it's happening. For sure the i'm not racist but blah blah blah brigade are slowly coming out've their shells. Some older people that I know are allowing the racism I thought they put behind them years ago to float to the surface too.

It's unreal how daft some people are so decided to basque in paranoid xenophobia & racism. They've genuinely convinced or allowed themselves to be convinced that all the problems we have or had in the UK are caused by the EU, immigration or refugee's from the lands we've bombed the crap out've for the last few decades.

Not for a moment could they evaluate & realise what UK govts run by uk nationals have done to the country over a few decades.

Like the EU in principle or not our own govts have done more s#it to us than the EU ever has.

I think the majority of leavers aren't racist, scared/worried certainly but not racist, unfortunately the hype whipped up (by Farage in particular) has empowered the bottom feeders into thinking 52% of the voters share their views and they're not so reticent about demonstrating them now

I'm heartily sick of being accused of racism based purely on my vote. I deliberated for weeks before voting and I ignored the exit campaigns themes as they were utter bollocks. I watched remain campaigns and realised they were trying to scare people to remain by making the thought of change terrifying. That worked on a lot of people but not on me.

I chose leave based on research. The accounts of the EU are unverified. I want elected lawmakers. We cannot continue to get ever closer, our cultures and histories are too different. The incomes in different countries are too different. Uncontrolled movement is epicly stupid under those circumstances.

As someone who has proudly served their country for 24 years, whose closest friends are of ethnic origin or Sikh, who is gay and a T-Girl and who has worked around Europe and elsewhere I would like to say: don't you DARE lump me in with bigots just because I had the temerity to vote differently to you. Racist incidents happen and they should be reported and prosecuted. Presumably the Twitter accounts belong to someone? Send the cops round!!
