Anything in a service station, pubs in London, or any major sporting or concert venue (particularly those where you're not allowed to bring your own food or drink in for 'security reasons' then they charge you £2.50 for a small bottle of water) |

"HOW MUCH!
Where were you at the Ritz?"
Glastonbury festival?
My American friend accidentally drank a bottle of rum before his gf arrived and to cover up his mistake went to a bar to get it refilled.
Guess how much he paid for 10 doubles?

Last time it happened to me I just sat looking at a handful of change in my palm(which was about £6) unfortunately my pint was £6.30...
I must have looked at my hand for about 30 seconds before my brain processed the information and I reached for my wallet while wanting to say..... HOW MUCH!!! |

At our works Xmas dinner in a pub last year someone wanted and orange juice. So they poured one from a 1ltr box of OJ with a "90p" price flash on the box. Probably got about 4 glasses from it. They then looked straight up and said 'that'll be £2 please luv' |

A block of cheese lasts a damn site longer than a pint of beer though ... |

Whilst waiting for passengers a few weeks ago, me and a work colleague went to get something to eat.... a fish and chip shop was only 500 yards away, so we parked up and walked there.
Next door was a restaurant (add on for the shop) so we decided to sit down to eat... ordered drinks and food... when the drink came out (glass of ) it was only half full, and a charge of £2.30
I asked for a full glass, and they said that's what was in the CAN!
So they wanted to charge me £2.30 for a CAN of , when next door (the same establishment) was selling the same drink for 90p
Long story... sorry! I told them they can stick their food and drink where the sun don't shine, price hyped due to the fact there was a famous gig where we dropped passengers!

We need to haggle or walk out more.
If most of the price of an alcoholic drink is tax, soft drinks should be cheaper by a huge mile.
I also detest sales tactics elsewhere and will happily tell them my plan for the discussion. Have a good poker face and let on as little as you can, until you're ready to take control.
However much you think it's essential, do actually walkaway wuntil they get the deal right. |
