"There was a number of reasons to vote in or out - at the end of the day it was a collective of those that led us to the outcome. I cant imagine anyone likes to think they were fooled let alone admit to it. This applies to both camps. My personal reason for wanting to leave is first hand experience of what we have had to endure over my 44 years on this planet. I simply want a radical change while retaining democracy. I grew up quite liking the Jams coin of phrase, the people gets what the people wants. No doubt someone will tell me that was the who but then that's not the first time I've been fooled..." Yes it was The Jam, but they said 'And the public gets what the public wants.' Another Brexit win!

So I say to you as I say to others, you can be pissed at the Brexiters but you should be even more pissed at the government and the ones before that put us in position in the 1st place.

I sort of get the feeling we're less of a target now given we have shown to the world we don't feel as close to France and Belgium who for whatever reason have lately bore the brunt of such attacks. Today we mostly seemed locked into secure areas in our workplace. Something I recall we never needed back when the troubles across the Irish sea were evident on the mainland and our membership was as part of an EEC, not an EU.

But its not 52% of the people is it Fabio. Its 52% of those that voted. Or 38.63% of the 44 million registered to vote. As I cant find a figure for those British citizens not on the electoral roll I cant give the genuine figure but it would not surprise me to find it is round the 33/34% mark. To my mind an electoral system that allows an absolute minority to dictate constitutional change is deeply flawed and needs changing.

The immigration thing that's linked with wanting to leave had no effect to why I decided to leave. I looked at the pros n cons of each option, and just decided that leave was the right thing to do. Reasons why I believe leaving will be: Better economy in the long run Control our own security Better trade deals More jobs eventually, EU killed off our fishing industry Have our own laws Not run by unelected MPs that dont know a thing about our country When we joined the EU/EEC, it was for free trade and free movement, and that ONLY...

I was a remain supporter and still dont get why we left 24 hours on. We need strong leadership now more than ever, but who do you trust to do that, honestly? Who has the dynamism the drive, the political skill the determination and enthusiasm. To heal these wounds and take us forward? Johnson? Who we know only span it for his political need and want. Give, one of the most unpopular MPs ever who systematically dis mantled the education system, Farage...? I'm ok with moving us forward for the sake of our children, but under whose stewardship are we going to do this?

Well done, everyone! This was a democratic vote where everyone had their chance to vote and like it or not, the Leave Campaign won by a huge overwhelming majority which was the voice of Britain.

That has been the SNP plane all along, even now as she has said it's on the table right now. British politics has been badly wounded by this referendum, and time will come where no one will trust anything the political parties say, will we go back to no one bothering to vote? "Anybody whose vote was based solely on immigration was always being naive... The entire Brexit vote was naive. 17 million people sucked in like children, and now the rest of us have to pay for it. Forever. I disagree the entire Brexit vote was naive. I never wanted the vote & think it was utter madness that the public was in charge of the most life changing decision in our lifetime. So I say to you as I say to others, you can be pissed at the Brexiters but you should be even more pissed at the government and the ones before that put us in position in the 1st place. You're right, the entire vote wasn't naive. Some of it was based on jingoism, some of it was based on racism, some of it was based on disaffection with politics and some of it was based on blaming the EU for problems caused by our own government. None of it was based on sense. Oh dear , once again , just as you did when the general election didn't go your way , you question the motives of those who don't agree with your _iews ! If you choose to live in a democratic country , then this is what happens . Deal with it in a dignified way , and quit whinging and suggesting those of us who voted out have no sense . " ..

Surely the rise in the recent years of the popularity of UKIP especially in predominantly affluent areas would have been a wake up call for the government but no they chose to ignore it & this is the result......

I would love to live in a Scottish Republic when I have to leave Spain. Not very keen at all about taking up residence in a country run by Gove and Johnson surrounded by xenophobes " You do realise that the vote was roughly split down the middle? From chatting to people I know, who voted both ways. Many who voted out, was because they are fed up with the elitist establishment as they see it. However, BJ went to Eton too so make of that what you will. A lot of people are very anxious at the moment. It feels very uncertain as it's uncharted waters in a lot of our lifetimes.

Yep! All I've seen so far is the Brexit people sneering or gloating. They need us on board and fast, so far they're only confirming my original _iew. "Anybody whose vote was based solely on immigration was always being naive... The entire Brexit vote was naive. 17 million people sucked in like children, and now the rest of us have to pay for it. Forever. LOL So many spineless idiots Those Brits with a spine will lead the UK out of this. UK has the fifth largest economy in the world second in Europe. Brits built this and Brits will survive this. The economy does not stop in eu there is a whole world out there. The UK will survive and thrive I truly hope it does for the sake of the young generation. But who exactly will lead us? That's what scares the hell out of me. " I'd agree! Though I'm not naturally a Tory I think Cameron has done a good job of running an initially crippled country, and I really can't see any good contenders! Same for Labour - and the liberals disappeared into obscurity after the last election! It's going to take a strong, charismatic leader to take us forward however we voted - and I can see no obvious candidates sadly! Frankly I'm hoping Cameron will change his mind And rescind his resignation - but that's unlikely! X

But then the £ rallied past February levels, and the FTSE closed on a weekly high: 2.4% up on last Friday, its best performance in 4 months. President Obama decided we wouldn't be at the 'back of the queue' after all and that our 'special relationship' was still strong. The French President confirmed the Le Touquet agreement would stay in place. The President of the European Commission stated Brexit negations would be 'orderly' and stressed the UK would continue to be a 'close partner' of the EU. A big bank denied reports it would shift 2,000 staff overseas. The CBI, vehemently anti-Brexit during the referendum campaign, stated British business was resilient and would adapt. Several countries outside the EU stated they wished to begin bi-lateral trade talks with the UK immediately. If this was the predicted apocalypse, well, it was a very British one. "Sadly I don't think the vote was made on an informed basis for the majority. There were many (admittedly safe) reasons to remain. Very very few strongly defined and proven reasons to leave. A great deal of blind belief and a desire to rebel. Overal I see a small pretty powerless island now looking more alone than ever. We aren't the uk of 50 or 100 years ago. We are a country suffering from financial insecurity, fear and lack of direction. Scaremongering and knee jerk responses have put us on a long and totally unpredictable path which may work out well or not. But it's a gamble with our, and our children's futures. A gamble which I as a parent and a businessman didn't consider to be a wise one. " . I get what your saying, unfortunately the reality of this vote is 40 years of mismanagement and quite frankly just people dismissing every opinion of somebody else that they don't like. Politicans have been brewing this for decades, they thought the EU was the greatest thing since sliced bread and they may well be right but for let's say 17 million other people, it really hasn't worked very well for them and every time they've complained they've been slapped down as stupid, ignorant, racist, jobless, little Englanders in a very condescending manner.... To quote What we got here is a failure to communicate, some politicans you just can't reach, so you get what we had here yesterday, which is the way they want it.... Well they got it, I don't like anymore than the rest of you bums but that's the way it is!

" True, the European union,is a group of democratic countries. Ran by an unelected group. It's just fundamentaly wrong. I don't really care about immigration, everybody wants a better life, and in the end that will always even itself out. My main concern is, how is it possible, for the unelected, to rule a democracy???

" Suggest you actually find out how the EU is run. It is run by elected people. The council of ministers, who are the ministers of each participating nation. Cast your mind back to 2015: we had a general election. We elected MPs, formed a government, that elected government sits as part of the EU council of ministers. They appoint a few people to do the administration of the EU. Those people do what the council of ministers tells them to do. In case you missed it, there are elections for MEPs. You can vote for them. They go to a parliament and debate and vote on stuff. Never mind, it's all irrelevant now.

"We are meant to be in a Parliamentary Democracy. That means we elect MP's who are meant to be more knowledgable than we are to make decisions on our behalf. Letting the public decide on this issue was in itself an undemocratic act. For those who want to know demos means people and cracy rule but it was never all the people the bottom 90% never voted." Two issues with this...... MPs are more knowledgable than us? That's just taking the piss and clearly wrong! I'm originally from St Helens. I knew my local MP personally...thick as a brick just didn't come close! 90% never voted? Where did you make that one up? 72% turnout...fact.

No doubt someone will tell me that was the who but then that's not the first time I've been fooled..." I'm fairly apolitical myself... but this is a real opportunity for some creative and innovative thinking about what kind of Britain do we want, what do we seek? I'm hopeful

"It's been 3 days since the result, article 50 hasn't even been triggered yet, and already the remainers are crying foul, "you can't deliver this and you can't deliver that". It's ridiculous. Nothing was ever going to change on Friday 24 June. It will take time to put these things in place, I don't see the point in rushing, as it needs a calm and steady approach to remove ourselves from the EU so we get it right and we end up getting the best outcome from the exit negotiations. We will be much better off in the long run out of the EU. Remainers like listening to experts well some experts are now saying they think the EU will crumble within the next 5 years. Now Britain has had the balls to leave others will do the same. The EU is a failure and it was always going to fail. I think Britain leaving is the first brick knocked out the flimsy EU wall and the whole thing will hopefully soon collapse. There seems to be a huge amount of sour grapes being sucked from Remainers at the moment (which was to be expected). Let them whinge and moan all they like it won't change the result. Leave won. End of. " ...well said.

Another example of a remainer trying to twist and bend the truth. Nigel Farage was not part of the official "vote leave" campaign. Nigel was part of the Leave.EU campaign and the "Grassroots out" campaign. If you remember the electoral commission narrowly chose vote leave as the official exit campaign over the grassroots out one. Nigel Farage never joined vote leave campaign. Nigel never used the 350 million per week figure as that was a vote leave campaign slogan. When taking about the EU Membership fee Farage always said we would save around 10 billion per year or 25 million per day from the EU membership fee.
