Katie Piper's new documentary about meeting up with others with disfigurement.. starts tomorrow night and she is one truly brave and inspiring young lady. For folks who don't know her.. she had acid flung in her face by a stalker.
NOT TO BE MISSED.
She was on TV this morning with a young girl who had epilepsy and took a turn in a shower and for 15 minutes the scalding water burnt her.
Just truly moving xxx |

Lets hope its better than Beauty and the Beast - that was a terrible docu. Wa surprised nobody started a thread about that - unless I missed one. I saw her story and treatment and must say she has done remarkably well with the results from that plastic mask therapy. That in itself is wonderful hope for burns sufferers. |

I have a female swinging friend from Berkshire who is not on this site...she is tall with the most amazing figure and legs...she was badly scolded as child and disfigured on her neck and torso which she is obvioulsly very conscious about...but I think she is simply gorgeous and veru sexy and it does not detract from her at all ! |

yes ive seen her before on TV totally inspiring i think it must be the worst thing to be facially disfigured because that is your window to the world and people can be so jusdgemental about looks ...i was born with some small deformities in my face and mouth but luckily it has all been fixed over the years ...last teatment was when i was 30 so i had 30 years of really not wanting to look in the mirror (even tho to other people i looked OK ) ....not sure i want to watch the programme tho ?? |

Great programme tonight.
Makes you very humble watching what some of these people go through and all the operations etc. Some of it was horrific to watch but blimey...
Makes my problems very small compared to what these brave people have to deal with day in and day out.
And all the ignorant people they have to face . |

Through the clapa(the cleft lip and palate group)i have heard some horror stories of peoples rudeness and ignorance.We were "lucky" our eldest had a cleft palate but no cleft lip.If i could have one wish it would be that when people see a baby with a facial disfigurement instead of moving away,falling silent,even phoning social services,they simply treated parents and child as normal. |

our son was born with a facial disfigurement...and was over a year old when it was corrected.....the most ignorant people are adults.......i remember one man walking into a door staring at my child......made me laugh....
kids they are brill they just ask what it is and why it is there......

It left me hanging ........ the lady screaming in pain as thay was going to short skin so blood could get to it.. will we know how she got on ??? and the man she loved she was pushing away as she never felt she could have children and not fair on him .... WHAT A WOMAN so BRAVE you could see the pain in her eyes and how sad she was. I hope to god she gets this sorted and can go back to a normal life ..... And as for katie what a star out of bad has come good look at all the people she going to help a positive thinking woman i think over the years we will be see alot more of this truly remarkable woman. |
