Why do people go to Glastonbury? It can't be for the music. Is there some enjoyment in camping in an overcrowded muddy field, getting filthy and sitting in traffic jams on the way there and back home?

Went around the turn of the millennium and missed both Bowie and Strummer.

Gutted.

Another year I saw the beginning of Radiohead and that passed out until the final notes of the final song when I woke up again.

Irredeemably gutted.

Doubt I'll go again, the cost of tickets combined with a need to be there Wednesday mornibg to camp somewhere decent puts me off.

ZZ Top were surprisingly good, I thought...

Tbh I don't go for the music, although I got dragged along to Muse last night. Noisy, sub-par metal band. Meh. Madness are on today and they usually do a good sing along, and surprised and pleased to see LCD Soundsystem playing tomorrow night... We'll see what happens.

So much other stuff to see, do, partake of... circus, theatre, comedy... Shangri La, Block 9... walking with hippies... even managed to sneak in my mate's gf on the third attempt yesterday.

It's a bit muddy today so I popped home for a bath and to launder my white suit (the trousers were a bit of a state).

Great festival, although slightly muddy Thought Muse were great(as always), skipped Adele to watch New Order who didn't disappoint, not into Coldplay much but it was a good performance with top special guests. Caught some special sets from legends such as; Art Garfunkel, ELO, and ZZ Top. The big metal spider with huge flames and banging music was something else. The festival is massive and we only covered a bit of it so will explore more next time

It was muddy, so I wore a three-piece white suit throughout, although I have seen it worse.

Adewwl was pretty good, ZZ Top were also surprisingly good.

The 'metal spider' is the Arcadia stage/DJ booth. It's stunning but I don;t like the music they play.

"Great festival, although slightly muddy Thought Muse were great(as always), skipped Adele to watch New Order who didn't disappoint, not into Coldplay much but it was a good performance with top special guests.

Did you get to Shangri-La, Hell, Block 9 &c...?

Saw someone in a white suit and now wondering if it was you, can't be many willing to do that in all the mud. No we didn't venture to them areas, do you recommend them for future visits?

Hell's bells!

*That's* where the party's at - it's like the last days of Rome down there.

Definitely go.

"Couldn't think of anything worse

Traffic

Mud

Wet tent

Queues

No facilities

Bank manager hippies

Over pricing

And

Adele Don't be boring.

It's a lot better than that

I went in 1981

Adele wasn't there that year, or fucking Coldplay

Headliners were Hawkwind Hawkwind, now you're talking.

i was there to ..think they played after new order

That's it yes

And I remember Ginger Baker getting bottled when his band played

a wonderful nite ..i seem to remember

i kept thinking that new order were sounding like hawkwind .i was very stoned and a bit confused .. but someone told me that they'd borrowed dave brocks guitar for some reason ..which would explain it.

i do miss the days of the real festivals ..its sad what theyve become "

There are still a few festivals that are like festivals used to be, The Green Gathering is one and Shambala is another, check them out. Another nice family friendly festival is Green Man festival in wales, i'm hoping to go to all 3 of them.
