I'm not a grammar/spelling Nazi.
but for some reason it annoys me (just a little) when people use the word "of" in place of the word "have"
Please people, it is "I should have" and not "I should of" etc.

That's just a rediculous thing to say!
Grrr! One thing likely to irrationally get my heckles right up is the inability to spell "ridiculous" - I'm no grammar and spelling expert (that's quite obvious) but this one really grates my gears for some reason |

We should have a rule on this forum: anyone who thinks speaking and writing one's first language correctly is not important should refrain from discussions of immigration. |

Of / have mildly irritates me too, but it's fairly understandable. 'Would have' is almost always spoken as 'would've', which sounds much more like 'would of' than 'would have'.
The one that raises my hackles most is the Americanism 'could care less'. How on earth did they end up saying something that means the exact opposite of what it's supposed to?!
Anyway, if you have any kind of interest in these things, you should watch / listen to Weird Al Yankovich's 'Word Crimes' - a brilliant spoof on Blurred Lines |

The word that has a similar effect on me is definitely. Usually spelt as defiantly |

No, no.
"but" is a conjunction (used to join two sentences together)
Should've done away with the full stop (period, for you Americans) and continued with "but" (with a lower case "b").
viz.
I'm not a grammar/spelling Nazi but for some reason it annoys me .....
Now for this one:
Apologize instead of apologise gets me everytime. This is britain after all.
It should've been a capital "B".
