I sort of have a political thing for Ruth Davidson ... I said sort of! Wrong side of the aisle on various accounts but she talks a lot of sense....

Seeing her and sadiq up against boris should be interesting.... They are going to bamboozle him with plain common sense

I'm not a fan of her politics.

But I love that the 3 main party leaders in Scotland are women.

The fact that 2 of them are lesbians is a bonus.

If you are still undecided this is a youtube clip of Professor Micheal Dougan.

Professor of European Law at the University of Liverpool, Professor Dougan provides his viewpoint on the EU referendum, and discussed the facts and figures circulated by both the ‘Leave’ and ‘Remain’ campaigns.

its worth a watch as he is impartial and balanced to both sides of the argument

You need to be looking closer to home for the blame for almost all of that.

How on earth are the EU responsible for the UK government's policy for the disabled and vulnerable, for example. Even the most rapid Brexiters don't argue that.

The money we send to Europe (before the rebate) is a drop in the ocean if you're thinking it'll sort that. It's all about the UK government and its priorities.

In my part of the world, huge amounts of EU funding has been allocated to help economically disadvantaged areas.

If you vote out, you'll have an even more right-wing, free market obsessed administration that's desperate to clamp down on public spending in the UK. Those things you rightly worry about won't get better - they'll get far worse.

Not only in This debate but the other one a couple of weeks ago, Boris comes across as a first rate pompous Arse, he is a knob, he has been shown in these debates to be a liar and is just posturing on the leave camp to get Cameron's job, he has been well and truly hammered by other speakers from both labour and conservative MP's , he is a light weight who would be a laughing stock globally.

I'm feeling much the same. I do worry about endorsing an institution which I believe is unaccountable and in my view undemocratic, but there is so much uncertainty with a leave vote and I have to take so much on trust. Still thinking though.

Who is Douglas Bardswell?

Boris the Churchillian, contrast to the image of David Cameron on Question Time special on Sunday, the British public now see Cameron as a 21st century Neville Chamberlain holding up a white piece of paper from the EU.

"Did Boris really just say this can be our Independence Day He did. I think he fancies him self as some sort of Churchillian love child sired in 1945 and until recently has been a cryogenic state of limbo. To think that idiot could be the next prime minister with Michael Gove and Douglas Bardswell as his acolytes in number ten. The mind boggles.

Who is Douglas Bardswell?

Boris the Churchillian, contrast to the image of David Cameron on Question Time special on Sunday, the British public now see Cameron as a 21st century Neville Chamberlain holding up a white piece of paper from the EU. "

Carswell............oooops predictive address book!

Boris is no Churchill unless you are comparing him to the dog in the insurance commercial?

Good GRIEF are you even serious? This saddens me so much. Please PLEASE remember you said as much if you get yer way and it is the end of the world.

Boris is no better than a war monger. NO evidence to back him up. He gives good speeches, but only from an oratory point of view. The best comparison really is Hitler. think on! "

Hitler? Isn't that the guy who with his mates came up with the idea of getting rid of seperate countries in Europe and creating a federal superstate or in other words an EU? Guess he won the war after all. Think on!

"Outstanding closing speech from Boris, best speech of the whole debate by far. "

The only highlight of Boris' speech was that he got the name of a current film in at the end.

Which would have been impressive if he was on a chat show plugging it. Representing one side of a political debate that will decide the economic fate of our country though? Not so much.

Still, he is playing to the popcorn crowd. He knows the level of his audience, that's for sure!

Amazingly there are quite a few from the popcorn crowd who detest the idea of national Sovereignty and have no idea that 70% of our laws are passed by unelected Euro Fat Cats serving the interests of bankers and big business.

Remain in the UK? So those who are here now without said skills would have to go? "

They were not saying kick everyone out who is here now.

What they are saying is time to stop the mass imigration and take a look at it using a different system of critiria as in people with the skills the country needs.

Just like every other country outside the EU does.

The Jeremy Paxman programme towards the start of the campaign said it was about 60% based on independent review. His concluding quote was "we have given up sovereignty, the question is was it worth it" I guess it is that question we need to answer for ourselves when voting.

Its the random use of unsubstantiated figures as this post gives sums up the leave tactic if misinformation.

According to the House of Commons Library, which itself concedes that there is no completely accurate way to make the calculation, between 1993 and 2014 Parliament passed 945 Acts of which 231 implemented EU obligations of some sort.

It also passed 33,160 Statutory Instruments, 4,283 of which implemented EU obligations. Add both of these together and divide by the total number of laws passed, and you get to a figure of 13%. So we can all use statistics to make a poor point.

As far as fat cats making EU law you are wrong. Its the EU parliament that legislates and you have a say in when you vote for that assembly if indeed you have ever done so.

Indeed. Europe does not stick its nose in...it puts the boot in for many small businesses.

In case you didn't read the previous post....the 60% came from independent review of the figures (relating to new legislation over the previous 12 months). No-one on the remain side has ever tried to contradict those figures.

Are you able to explain how?

And by explain, I mean describing an actual thing that happens, not by simply saying 'red tape mate' and thinking that's a reason.

Interestingly there was a lady on the debate last night who claimed small businesses were being stifled by the EU, and yet didn't have a single example of how.

More or Less contested it on their EU special. They are completely independent.

The fact is anyone who gives you a figure of how many laws come from Europe that apply to the UK is either lying, or doesn't understand the complexity of the issue.

And often both.

Said the pot as it called the kettle black.

Amazing how the filthy rich like Cameron and Soros and the 10,000 EU employees who earn more than Cameron just love the EU...there's nothing like a taxpayer funded gravy train!

Which is why you can review all the information you have heard and make your vote. Not all figures used by both sides are wrong, they are spun to support the arguments of in or out. I thought the Paxman broadcast and the editorial in last night's debate were good in trying to present balanced views. Part of the problem with the whole debate has been the speed with which people use the word lies when numbers are used with which they disagree, rather than offer appropriate challenge. And sad to see this language being used by supporters of both side on here. It has been a poor debate for our democracy.

Which makes reducing immigration an interesting challenge for whoever is in government. Displacement from the EU to countries further away most likely solution.
