Im a very proud Devonshire girl, we have stunning countryside, amazing beaches, friendly people just wish you folk who cant talk proper from up north sod off and stop invading us in the summer.. go find your own sunshine make your own pasty's and make your own custard lol |

I am a southerner thats living up in the midlands.. have to say, midlands guys are so less forward then London lads..
There are also huge differences in attitudes from North to south.. be interested to see if Master comments on this.. :D
but about the areas.. I much prefer living where I do to where I grew up, as I grew up just outside Heathrow airport... BUT... living in the midlands is sometimes like living in a totally different country.. I hate being so far from the sea... I miss the south coast for my holidays..
Good things about being up here Gravy mix.. lol When I asked for one of those down south I got looked at funny.. Gravy with chips lol

I love all parts of England, Wales & Scotland, (I've never been to Ireland but will do soon! )we live on a beautiful island - there's good and bad everywhere and people will always have a strong allegiance to their birthplace. Around us we have gorgeous rolling country side, the coast is half an hour away, loads of great friendly people. Z |

Its not the kilts or not for me.. lol I just find them on the whole far better at most things sexual than English men.. may be a generalisation but well for me its a definate noticable difference..

We went on Holiday to Malia 6 years ago. No one told us it was full of mainly 20 somethings.
anyway,we were the oldest in our hotel by about 10/15 years and the only southerners there. Most were from Liverpool,Preston,Sheffield and Chesterfield.
At first I thought we'd dropped a bollock.
Turned out to be one of the best holidays we've ever had. I was given a t-shirt when we left with 'Honorary Northern Monkey' on it
Also spent quite a few weekends in Auchterarder in Scotland. Lovely place but boy can they fucking drink! |

born and raised in devon and devonshire loyal as the forces keep moving me about and have to say devon and the south west as the best part of the county most chilled out friendly layed back down to earth people ever, untill u get a devon girl into the bedroom and wow innocent girl to dirty bitch to blow ur mind and everything else!!

As im a midland girl i shall tell you my observations. Northerners (anything north of me) are nutters, enjoy a good time know how to party. Make as though you know them all your life within 5 minutes.
Southerners (anything southern of me) Enjoy a good time but are more reserved, tend to only let there hair down when they have known you awhile. The men are more english gents.
I dont think either is better or worse but thats how i see the difference between the north and the south.

Officially I am a first generation immigrant. The furthest north I had lived was in East Anglia not far from Bury St. Edmunds.
I consider myself a southerner, as I lived and had a property in London for nearly 20y.
Now in sunny Wiltshire and love it! |

I was advised to drop my accent by my EFL teacher when I was 14.
In those days, that was the norm - a "posh" accent was more desirable, and I would stand a better chance in getting ahead etc...

Anyways...joking aside..I have to agree about the friendliness..Northern people always seems so much more friendly..remembering lads holidays in spain etc..all the Northern girls would be up dancing enjoying while the southern ones would be standing around the bar done up like models with their noses in the air...such hard work to chat up on holiday.
The most unfriendly people/places I have come across in the UK...the Isle of Wight, Salisbury...and Bristol (the men more than the women) no offence if your from there..just an observation. |

Living in a part of the country that attracts incomers from all over the UK (over a third of the Devon population not born here), and surrounded by folks from most regions I wouldn't say that any one area produces friendlier people.
You meet some nice Northerners, you meet some not so nice Northerners....same goes from people from the South, from the East, from Scotland and from the Midlands.
An arsehole is an arsehole regardless of where they originate from.
