Iodine, apologies if that's not spelt properly but you know what I mean that red stuff that felt like the nurse had just poured sulphuric acid onto your skin |

One of my work colleagues was telling me how his first school allowed them to watch a football match in class back in 2002, felt so depressed, I was 23 at the time and whilst we were in a sports shop (name not mentioned) to buy an England shirt I had to explain to him who wore them in 82/90/96 so that he could picture them in his head from archived footage he had seen. |

Fruit and veg that tasted fresh and tasty...and if you had a neighbour who grew anything, they dropped bits off on your doorstep or on the kitchen table whilst you were out.... |

Loved your reference to "carry cots". I inherited my older brother's. It was pale yellow ( because that was ok for girls AND boys)and when I outgrew it, mum let me have it to put my dolls in. I can see it now. Haven't thought about that for well over forty years! |

I wonder why it was so different those days, why has the world changed so much and what changed it.They were happy days, did we think different because we were children ,was it because our parents were strict, when you look at today and yesterday the change is dramatic. |

Watching champion the wonder horse and white horses. Then run down to the fields, saddle up my pony and disappear across the common for hours. And playing out till it went dark in the summer, not a care in the world.

On white horses let me ride away
To my world of dreams so far away
Let me run
To the sun
To a world my heart can understand
It's a gentle warm and wonderland
Far away
Stars away

The last set we had ended up wrapped around an electric cable which crossed above our back garden. It was there for years and years before the rope eventually rotted away. |

Miss Christmases has a child. All the excitement and the build up. To much stress now as an adult. Miss the old milkman carts and having the crates of pop and milkshake off him. Or the old chip vans that used to come around. £1 used to seem like a lot of money back then which used to make me feel rich xx |

"Lots have memories of years gone by,i can just smell that brute aftershave Henry Cooper with his ..Splash it all over.. "
Some really pungent perfume from the 80's which loads of girls wore back then. It's pretty rare now but when I do catch a whiff of it it transports me back and I get a bit of a twinge I can't remember what it is, poison possibly??? I doubt the lasses miss the lads reeking of kouros |

you rented TVs rather than buying one.
Only 1 person on the street had a telephone and everybody else gave it as an emergency contact number.
The post office delivered everything.
Buses didnt run until 11am on a sunday
Buses stopped running at 11.30pm every night except sunday when the last bus was 10.30pm
Pubs in Birmingham closed at 10.30pm every night and were shut between 2.30pm and 6pm (7pm on a sunday)
If you asked for a coffee in a pub you would probably be thrown out.
Pizza delivered to your door????? WTF is a Pizza???? ( I was 22 before I even saw a pizza) |

I remember when me and my brothers used to stay at our grandparents house who lived in the new forest. The 3 of us could go out in that forest all day (grandma would pack us a picnic for lunch) we never worried that something terrible would happen to us. And as long as we were back for dinner time they didn't worry either. I couldn't imagine letting my son do that now, to many horror stories.
I miss the days when you could actually sit and have a conversation and nobody was distracted by their phone. |
