Is SKYPE a good way to check mutual attraction before a meet?I

I was wondering if anyone uses SKYPE to chat to someone online instead of just exchanging messages.

I was wondering if anyone uses it before agreeing to meet someone? I mean...you can at least chat face to face and test out some 'sort of ' chemistry? I have such a busy work life that I don't have endless time to meet lots of people who may be nothing like their profile or turn out a bit weird or not turn up at all! Now obviously SKYPE can't guarantee all those things but it is perhaps a quick and easy way to at least check if someone is genuine and if you are attracted to them....

Before anyone asks... I am not interested in CAM as that is about talking to loads of people and I am not keen on endless unknown people seeing my face!

Because my grandmother the Queen would cancel my invitation to Sandringham for christmas and it's the only time I get to kick the corgis once the old lush is pissed!

I've Never done a Skype chat like that to test the waters..i think if someone can put the effort in for a text convo or chat over the phone, that suffices for chemistry.

But if you are short of time, maybe you can both use it to check eachother out? Lol.... people do 'enhance' their photos but you can't easily enhance yourself on a live SKYPE video chat!

Saves the wasted time in arranging to meet?

I am fussy and short of time so that's why I wondered if it might work. ..

We typically use Skype to verify the gender/status of people we meet as a back-up to the verification system on here. We normally just go for a simple wave and a short-sharp chat.

Because of the slight delay and volume issues with Skype it can be quite a difficult way to hold a first vocal conversation in person - especially if the other party/ies is/are nervous. Although sometimes it really helps them to relax- but we have found it is much easier to do that in person. For us at least, we only really work out if we are attracted to them by meeting in person.

I don't do Skype, I prefer the blind date moment when the curtain comes back

I wpuld only meet someone socially first. I need to feel attracted to them physically too. I assume it is the same for the guy too.

I don't have the luxury of time to have endless social meets and especially not 'blind' meets. I like to see a face /body pic....and would share in return if we were potentially interested in meeting. I guess I wondered if SKYPE adds a more personal touch as a present social. That way you can filter out the fakes and they can't get away with photos that show them 20 years old! That happened the first time I ever met someone off FAB. We had spoken in the phone and he sounded nice . He sent me a photo and he looked gym fit with a handsome face so I agreed to meet him for coffee. When he turned up.... I didn't know it was him. He recognised me! But he must have been pushing 70 years old! Awkward! Thing is. .. I didn't want to to be rude so ended up having the coffee and he was sweet but it just carried on with our chat as if nothing had just happened! Talk about stuck in your youth! This guy really didn't seem to know he was nearly 70! Lol!!!!!

So situations like that.... I think SKYPE would help

Although with a low-res webcam, flattering lighting and crap loads of foundation it can be hard to tell someone's age on Skype!

I had never properly experienced Skype on my phone until just this morning, I had used text with Skype but not the whole two way audio/visual thing.

I agree with you, I think it is a great way to filter out the sheep from the goats.

I have only ever chatted on skype after I have met someone...

I don't see how you can tell if there is a mutual attraction prior to a meet via a webcam...surely you can only do that face to face

I use Skype to save on the social meet tbh. A quick chat face to face see if we can hold a convo and like the look of each other x
