right i have an age related problem, bloody grey hair

I've never dyed my hair as such but over the past few years more and more grey have been popping up and because my hair is black they just stand out like a belisha beacon

I've tried every dye on the market, for grey hair, mature hair I've even used dyes designed for black peoples hair think it could be stronger but nothing seems to take, it covers for the day i use it but as soon as i wash my hair again it just washes out so in effect im dying my hair every time i wash it

Any hair dressers on here can tell me why my hair just wont hold dye and is there anything i can do to help it?

Ta muchly

You prob won't understand this but then on other hand you may.lol. grey hair needs prepping before colour to ensure the colour sticks. Best thing to do it coat all hair in peroxide before colouring best % to use is 3% or 6% no need for any higher. Leave on hair for 15/20 mins and then rinse and dry this opens the cuticles of the hair to allow the colour to stick more into he grey hairs. Also when colouring once u have washed ur hair give ur hair a coldish rinse this then closes the cuticles and locks the colour in. Also you can buy colour pens from boots these are handy for top ups in between colouring and u can buy in black hope that helps

Colour pens would work if you wanted to cover it

Are you determined you want to stay the same colour? Grey/silver is very in right now, maybe instead of trying to hide it work with it and get some more silver put in?

the one i mentioned above has a sachet of some type of pretreatment that is supposed to make the grey hair more absorbent
