i know she was one of the mp's who was brilliant on the issue of syrian refugee's... some of her commons speeches were fantastic and her maiden speech is one of the better ones i have heard in a long time.....
the fact she leaves behind 2 young kids is heartbreaking.....

She is being described as one of the good ones, there to fight for her constituents and us all and willing to work with everyone.
The early reports are that she went to help with an altercation.
We should all learn from her. Be tolerant, be helpful and be caring.

Senseless and tragic.
I'm stunned and so sad. I know a number of MPs and it's appalling that someone should be killed for doing a difficult job in public life.
A sad day for everyone in Britain, when our democracy risks being undermined in this way.

It's hours after her death and his pain must be horrendous. I truly hope it wasn't hate that led to her death but it can't be ruled out.

How senseless is everything that can ever be written, done, or thought, when such things are possible.
It must be all lies and of no account when the culture of a thousand years could not prevent this stream of hate and anger being poured out
To strike down a maiden of honour and moral being serves no purpose save to cradle her tears and weep for her children.
Hate and anger have no place in the world of those who seek to conciliate and in the work that is good from this human race.
The futility of ignorance and injustice is there to be seen, She never turned away she listened and vowed to heal and reconcile those soiled by anger and hate.
When all the arrows that we have are cast We may ask one another why we hate And fail to find a story to relate. It may seem then to us a mystery That we should hate each other for no valid reason .

Really can't believe something like this can happen in the UK to anyone. I am not in the country at the moment and I have only just picked up on the news that she actually died. When I went out earlier, it was a shooting and now I discover she actually died. Words fail me....
Thoughts must now be with her husband and two young children. Simply awful for them. What an absolute stomach churning and sickening tragedy.
The guy who did this is surely going to have a very, very long time to try to reconcile his despicable act that has ripped an innocent family apart. |

I had never heard of this lady when I went to work this morning and no doubt many others in here hadn't either.
However, I find myself in a state of shock, grief and mourning.
Not only for the MP, the wife, the mum, the friend that has been lost but for what could have been.
A beacon of light and hope has just gone out in an increasingly selfish and cynical world.
That, in itself, is as tragic as the way the events of today have unfolded before the people of Birstall.

Like so many people across the UK, we never met her but possibly heard about her through political events, programmes or in the media.
I unashamedly, shed a few tears tonight when I heard this news. She was only doing the job she loved representing those who did or didn't vote for her with equality and dignity.
But it only took a minute for someone with a mixed up mind or misguided _iews to destroy that dedication of hers.
Whatever we may say about how much we love or hate MP's, they do a job which many of us wouldn't necessarily do in a country where they can still exercise freedom of speech and carry out their function in relative safety, harmony and understanding.
Tonight's tributes on TV, Radio etc said it all; very profound and for once, politicians and allied political groups from all sides coming together in solidarity.

The BBC said something about the campaign resuming on Saturday. I took that to mean both sides. It would be in very bad taste if one side is out tomorrow when the other isn't.
It could well be that the police have advised that in order to put extra security in place for further events from Saturday onwards. |

But we now know he had links to a far-right group campaigning to leave the EU.

Not at all. I just think a brief period of quite reflection at a time like this is probably better than anything else. Desperately saddened by the tragic death of Jo Cox. My heart breaks for her family. At the same time deeply disturbed by the culture of hate borne out of so called political fervour that we find ourselves surrounded by today.
A truly wonderful, caring human being has had her life ended in a totally inhuman way. May she rest in peace.

Until yesterday I'd never heard of Jo Cox. I'd also become immune to such senseless acts, or so I thought.
I watched and read in total shock. Someone who it appears worked tirelessly for others, and in some right hell holes, gunned down and stabbed whilst working in the UK: unbelievable.
What a sad and tragic day: her poor, poor family. |

I was aware of Jo Cox, but only through her charity work. Such a sad loss. Our personal thoughts are with her Husband, children, family and friends. I hope they find the strength to cope with the loss and the aftermath.
I am reminded of the following quote, which was brought to my attention when a much-loved comrade fell on the battlefield...

I had not heard of her until yesterday. I was shocked to hear about an MP in Britain being stabbed and shot.
Today hearing more about her charity work, her dedication as an MP and hearing about her husband and young children, my sadness has increased.
I sit here shocked and appalled at what has happened.

It's a knee-jerk gesture in a # world. I don't understand people leaving flowers at an accident when they don't know the person but they do because people feel a need to make a gesture. You choose to see it as Remain raising awareness, and some will be but most will just be expressing their gesture to the hate and hopelessness of this terrible event. |

People are allowed to do what they want. She was an outspoken Remain supporter, and people who were already voting to stay in will say things to support that and their vote. It doesn't stop people from mourning the senseless death of this woman. |

And you need a second Licence to purchase the black powder itself. Both of which are extremely difficult to obtain. |

as far as I am aware its only an explosive licence
I never knew you needed a licence to buy black powder, I will ask friends who own them
strange
as you do not need a license to purchase gun powder
you don't need a license to buy shells
or bullet heads
or primers
its only when you assemble and complete the round that you "should" then add the amount you have made onto your firearm certificate
I can go into greater detail if required
