Do we find intelligent people boring? Do you meet your kid's teacher or your solicitor and think, ' I'm happy to be his/her client but by Jove I would want him at my party!'?
Do people feel compelled to "dumb up" a bit just so they can fit in?
Would you meet and play with intelligent fabbers?
And by intelligent, I don't mean loudmouthed wise guys. |

I would say it's not so much that we want to meet "intelligent" people. More that we don't want to meet thick people. Sorry if that sounds really snobby, but the thought of spending time with foul-mouthed yobs who can barely read just leaves us cold. |

No I don't find intelligent people boring. No I don't alter my profile to conform to anything. It represents precisely who I am and what I'm here for. To misrepresent myself would be counter productive as it wouldn't be a true reflection of me. |

A lot of intelligence comes from life experiences, which would make a person more interesting. But personality counts for a lot. I find egocentric people and those without humour boring. |

This. We don't claim to be "intelligent" but we can both hold a conversation, with every other word not a swear word. |

Initially I expect many try to judge whether people are on a similar level socially, and that may incorporate perceived intelligence from the visible cues on the profile. At the end of the day, if you wouldn't be attracted to someone you meet in everyday life for this reason, why make an exception on fab? |

Yeah, intelligence is a turn on. But I don't expect to be chatting away about theoretical physics on a fab meet. I need to like someone's personality and appearance more than their IQ. Marc is testament to how imprtant intelligence is to me in relationships, but I'm not here for a relationship.
On a social, however, bring on the theoretical physics. |

"It depends on what you think is intelligent or what you find boring.
I class people who know how to say the right things and how to behave as intelligent and not boring."
And how do you define a wise person...is there any correlation with intelligence, if what? |

I, personally, can't be bothered with people who aren't intelligent. I call them "Grunters," ie--all they know how to do is grunt.
That being said, at least some areas of interest need to be inline with mine. If all you can talk about is your financial (or whatever) job, I don't care how intellectual you are, we won't mesh.
Intelligence comes in so many forms! No need for an advanced degree or however many A*'s in college. |

I (Mr) have been ridiculed at work for using "big words" and been told at an appraisal that I'm "clearly very clever and educated" but that doesn't necessarily mean I'm very good at the job.Very strange comments, I work for a public sector organisation in a skilled role and my manager is less qualified than myself! Not sure they appreciated the irony of their sniping comments |

Exactly. Just because it's a swinging/sex site I don't see why I should meet anyone I wouldn't be happy to meet in everyday life. I realise some people aren't bothered and are just purely meeting for sex but I tend to socialise. Intelligence and a good personality are a massive turn on. Just my opinion |

It's funny - I tend to assume I'd only want sex with someone who's reasonably intelligent, yet I never find myself watching porn and wondering if the women have Masters degrees. (They seem to keep that light well and truly under a bushel if they do :D ) |

Intelligence is varied from in my opinion, in my head the person you are describing is someone that wears t and went to a really posh school, so I know for a fact I wouldn't really get on well with 'those types' of people because we just wouldn't have anything in common.

I was going to say something similar about anyone having a boring character. I've known people who can't read and write well, who wouldn't be classed as intelligent by society, have a quick wit and be the life and soul of the party. |

I used to work with an intelligent man who droned on about cheese and wine and wanted to be the centre of attention. He was a sly man who sucked up to senior management while trying to do as little as possible. |

I'm not turned on by intelligence per but I do like one on one meets with people on the same general wavelength as me. I did consider simplifying my profile but then it wouldn't reflect me. I have had messages from people saying they couldn't be bothered to read it or that they clicked on it but got distracted by the pictures. I take that as a very strong indication that we probably want different things from our respective fab experiences. |

We like minds, think that's different to intelligence and I think that's fluid too. Hard to define and there's different types. We just like what we like. |

I don't dumb down for people. I'm just me. I was still brought up on a council estate, I just happened to be lucky enough to get sponsorship to go to a Russell Group University. So, yes, whilst I have a PhD, it doesn't mean I don't have a good time and know how to enjoy myself. And I hope others are just the same. I don't want to meet people up there own asses and lording it, but also I want to meet people able to hold a conversation too. I guess that if you get the one line text speak message it's a pretty good indicator of what you are letting yourself in for. |
