But does that not constitute slagging off the judicial process.......
C'mon man.....
You can't seriously advocate one thing by slagging off another thing which hasn't even happened yet,,
Can you? |

Absolutely especially where the English are concerned ! Can't see many Russians gonna get nicked ! |

To be fair, on this occasion it sites as if the Russians were the instigators but it's still pretty pathetic that people can't go to watch a football match without dragging the sport down.
As a sport I don't mind football, although I do prefer rugby. I would never go to a football match because of the fans. I know several people who are football fans bit take their children to watch rugby because the fans are more respectful and there is less bad language etc |

We all know that guy that manages to get in a fight most weekends but it's never their fault, this reminds me of them
I'm sorry if sone innocent supporter has got hurt and yes English fans probably aren't the protagonists this time but many of them are far from the innocents abroad that sone are trying to portray them as.

But English fans are known the world over for getting involved in trouble when abroad - they've never once gone to a tournament abroad without being involved in trouble where ever they end up.
The facts are the facts in this one - it's in their "culture". |

Because you say it is a fact it does not make it one. You are incorrect in saying that English hooligans are fans of football, they're not, and there are literally hundreds of documentaries that have been produced over thirty years supporting this. Rival gangs of hooligans have each others mobile phone numbers so they can call each other to arrange a ruck. What we're seeing in France is innocent English fans caught up in organised violence. |

So what is the solution? Play behind closed hates? Sell no tickets?
It's just mindless violence for the sake of it and it's pathetic.
I will agree that the majority of the fighters go there specifically to have a fight and not to watch the game but how do you stop that? Banning orders haven't worked because they don't care about not seeing the game. How can anyone know who is there to fight and who isn't!

To those on the backlash regarding my post,
All of your statements are expressed as if -
"it's impossible for a hooligan to be a FAN - therefore it's impossible to rightfully call a FAN a hooligan"
Well, you're all wrong.
Because the situation, as always, is much more dynamic than that.
Hooligans are fans too... |

The authorities know who the hooligans are and they are banned from football stadiums across the continent. However, EU rules makes it impossible to stop them travelling. They go to fight, not watch football, and it would be interesting to see how many of them actually have tickets for the matches. |

Excuse me, but I'm not arguing here.
I expressed my opinion regarding what I consider to be the facts in the matter.
If someone then takes it upon themselves to counter what I post then that's up to them if they feel strongly enough about the subject to do so.
I'm an adult so I'm fine with that. |

That was my point. Banning them from the games has made no difference because they just go and fight outside the stadiums and in the cities.

there have always been fuckwits whose idea of a good night is a tear up at some point, usually one moves away from them if that behaviour materialises be that out on any town in this country or when football tournaments and domestic/international games take place..
the English fans over the past few years had started to sort their act out and with the police using banning orders such events were vastly in the majority..
this one has a worrying element of organisation from some of the Russian's attending and that's starting to be reported by some respected and credible sources..
not excusing the behaviours of anyone who is intent on kicking off but there is a difference between kicking off and defending yourself and family members when attacked if you can't get to safety..
the scenes in the stadium last night were worrying given the French are meant to be on a high level of security..
it was clearly organised and it was the Russian 'fans' who attacked..

The organisation of the games has to be questioned..British police had serious questions why the game was being played in the evening in a potential town where there was history of hooliganism by French fans. Also there was serious intelligence that the Russians were planning something, but nothing had been done to segregation properly inside the ground. |

this is from a freinds facebook he goes all over the country following oldham and all over europe following eintract frankfurt ,there is a link between supporters groups of the two clubs he is in no way a hooligan
I have been to many places watching football, some more friendly than others. From the moment you got off the train you could see your not welcome.
Yes in the past England fans have bad nasty reputation & still have a few muppets that follow them.
This was different this was gangs of local youths and Russians both before and after the game looking to for aggro and going for families, or anyone they believed to be English.
On arrival I saw a bunch of Russians attacking group of locals outside a bar.
One England fan, after I walked out the station chased after me to advise me to walk the other direction.
Sad before the game me & Michael Ingle had a laugh with some Russians.
Inside the ground a mess up by the Steward saw me end up in the Russian end at the side. Lucky enough was able to get back to my seat in the England end in time for kick off.
I always try to have a positive approach to places and people.
A lot of people warned me about Marseille and the fact as kid where my favourite French team. People also have made big deals about other places I have been to before and never had bother.
I still hope to keep my positive approach but need to think that little bit more I have another ticket for a game in Marseille next week but still 50:50 if it's worth the bother.
The press over here headlines front pages are about the English, not about the Russians who attacked English fans inside the Staduim.
Don't believe all you read in the papers yes England in the past has had issues.
But there is and 2 sides to each story. On this occasion majority of English fans where innocent.

"Alcohol ...booze....vino ..

nope....rugby fans drink side by side, arent segregated at their games, eat in restaurants together and discuss the good and bad of the game in a civilised manner.....drink is not the problem.
I worked at Wembley a few times years ago, once for some football final where Man City played and there were riots on the concourse where vendor tills were snatched and the staff had to pull the shutters down and hide in their stalls until the fans were under control.
I also worked there for the rugby league final where there was as much, if not more, drink consumed and saw rival fans laughing and joking together, one conceding that the other team should have been given a penalty for something that happened during the game.
it really is just mindless pathetic violence which unfrtunately wont be topped unless football is stopped now and that wont ever happen because it is such a lucrative industry. |

Youve answered my argument so thankyou for that. Thats the football mentality lets wear other teams colours & cause bother. Unbelievable. All clubs need to control the fans properly & fans need to self police. If fans are hell bent on causing bother then jail them for 5 years minimum. Bloody hell never thought football thugs would stoop to that level. |

All clubs need to control the fans properly & fans need to self police. If fans are hell bent on causing bother then jail them for 5 years minimum. Bloody hell never thought football thugs would stoop to that level." you missed my point completley but i expected that what i was actualy pointing out is thats where your plan would fall down what is to stop a false flag being used to harm a club/country that can do little to stop it it would be anarchy and unworkable clubs can and are sanctioned for not controlling fans within the stadium but cannot be held responsible for a few idiots five miles away on a pub car park ! |

"I'm serious !
Lads getting hurt and the majority are not after trouble !
Stop been so quick to judge !
Fair play to Joe Hart he seemed to have got the situation summed up at the end !
But English fans are known the world over for getting involved in trouble when abroad - they've never once gone to a tournament abroad without being involved in trouble where ever they end up.
The facts are the facts in this one - it's in their "culture".
You are confusing English fans with English hooligans. Fights are arranged long before they are waged.
Lets clear this up once & for all, fans arent to blame its the football mentality which is corrupt from top to bottom. Money, cheating, diving, this is every game every day the world over, a fight is now & again.teams/countries after 1st strike, next game closed doors, 2nd strike 5 games closed doors, 3rd strike close them down completlyso me and a bunch of mates decide to go and kick off wearing manutd colours at five games ooh wiat an min none of us support the club but hey they have been shut down because they couldnt stop "there fans " from fighting not so simple is it

Poor lambs. Minding their own business sipping Pimms in the sunshine before being pounded to a pulp by marauding cossacks. "
The videos of the english fans trying desperately to climb over perimeter fences to escape the charge/invasion of thier section by the russian fans with no police in sight does go to show that it wasn't the english starting it |

SO bored of this.
People say, 'its all organised' - ok...so where are all the other countries having these organised thug hunts? How come it is only English fans since, oh I don't know - forever?!
And it is these arseholes who you just KNOW are are Farage worshipping, neanderthal, knuckle dragging BIGOTS who will be anti immigration, anti anything that isn't heterosexual.
I hope every last one of them is jailed. |

All countries whose fans cause trouble at a tournament should be banned from the next one ,yes it will spoil it for real fans but its probably only way to stop the hooligans who only go to start trouble |

yesterday was started by the Russians, they got flares in then rushed the England fans after the Russians equalised in the 92nd minute.
There have been troubles between Irish and Polish fans this week.

"Closed gates lol
Do ireland and other countries with no history if hooligans have to play behind closed gates too?
Hardly fair"
Or more pertinently will Ireland and other teams with no history of hooliganism be targetted by the Russians and French?
I very much doubt it, and that's why I am really struggling with the "they started it" defence. England fans both domestically and internationally have been causing trouble for years and all of a sudden they are the victims because the Russians want to show that they are top dogs by kicking the shit out of the English. This is a situation entirely of England fans' making due to their behaviour in the past
And yes it's shit that innocent fans got hurt, but that was true when it was England fans starting the trouble |

Well the English football thugs do tend to have gotten themselves a bad name over the years, I would suggest not allowing them to leave the country again, but that would mean they would be here causing trouble.
After all it is only a game, if England lose the sum will still shine, the rain will still fall. |

b) have to also report to police stations.... |

English fans + russian fans + Marseille Ultra's + French Police.....
I was asked by several people if they should go....i told them all "hell no!"
for anyone who didn't know.... at euro 2012.... the country that had the most fans arrested during the tournament for violent behaviour was russia.... |

I work with people who were in marseille in 98 and they said it was like a war zone, they had to barricade them selves into their hotel rooms as they were attacked by locals.
I have a friend who is over there now and hes got pictures(from a distance) of russians brandishing machetes and throwing tear gas.
This was not a case of English yobbish behaviour, this was a clear organised attack by the russians "hooligans".
As for the incidents in the days leading up to it the england fans were attacked by the locals and then set upon by the riot police.
By no means am i saying that all england fans are innocent but the days are gone of the masses going looking for trouble. You will never stop the minority from spoiling it. |

I've been to the Euros in years gone by and felt sympathy for the genuine England fans.
I was with Ireland,we were welcome in bars and clubs but England fabs were being routinely turned away.
Unfortunately the latest events will result in genuine England supporters being treated as very unwelcome guests. |

Thousands of football fans need an army of police to control them
Couple of coppers needed on Isle of Man to tell thousands of bike race fans where the next pub is
Sort of puts things in context don't you think |

I suggest you go read what actually happend, english fans have been constantly attacked by marseille ultras while in bars and restraunts. That bar you seen burning down what england fans were in was caused by a flare thrown by marseille ultras... Ohh but the english were still there ... Thats because they were trying to help put out the fire but were still attacked.
Go and read the news stories about the russains and locals attacking the english with machetes!
Not saying the english are totally innocent but you are clearly misinformed and havent looked at any of the facts.
Why are uefa only prosecuting the russians for the crowd trouble??? |

UEFA opened proceedings against Russia as they can only deal with violence inside the stadium, which they instigated Outside is a police problem.

With the revised format Scotland could still go through even though they failed to qualify

Isn't it strange that the Irish from the Republic of Ireland are collectively non-violent in temperment when abroad supporting their national team?
Actually, no, it isn't.
As a singular seperate culture - they never developed such problems. |

French police were nowhere near the ground last night they were busy tear gassing half the old port
I have never said English fans abroad are innocent and after Berlin I was the first to criticise
However this time we were started on - I am in Toulouse and loads of Spain and chezch republic fans and no trouble
I think I might start use the block button for the morons back home that don't have a clue and have been infected by British media
Nearly every one I spoke to got tear gas at some point and these are people ranging to mid 20s to early 60s. The Russians hit women as well
I agree there a small bunch of dickhead fans that were chucking the odd bottle but it was organised
Anyway I am off to have a few drinks with Spanish and chezch fans |

I think we should stop calling these people fans, I know"fans" get that name for short from fanatic but these aren't fans,i know they dress like fans and look like fans and sing fan songs, while watching and going to "fans" football but there not fans and certainly not "English" fans!!.
In fact I think David Cameron should stop associating the words fan, football and England with these barbarians because he's tainting the good fans |

Hibernian fans were fighting with each other and they won the cup in the pub my son was working at the other week.
They don't need opposition fans to fight with.
Teams should be penalised and fans should only be able to travel if they have tickets for the match.

Ffs. I just read that all alcohol will now be banned outside stadiums now because of the violence caused. Marvellous . While it was expected that English and Russian's would clash you have to ask yourself wtf were the security staff at, no attempt to segregate the two worst groups of travelling supporters out there. Ugh, gotta say this is taking the edge off the excitement I had for my trip over to watch Ireland. |
