Ok people.....before the fab trampoline gets a work out I am going to speak to my Dr about this but as it isn't life threatening I need to plan when as they have a callback system at my surgery.

A PEI at work has diagnosed a rotator cuff injury in my right shoulder and I just wondered if anyone has had one and what the treatment was for it.

I have wondered for sometime if I am maybe a bit wonky on that side as any pain or stiffness seems to only be on that side so am going to ask for a physio referral as I would hate anything to go wrong big time and affect my running.

This injury is bothersome at the moment as I really want to start getting more into lifting and improving my core and upper body strength. My legs are really very muscley (I often get asked if I am training them)!but my upper body not so much!!

Drop me a pm if you like. From the phrase you used, we might well have been in the same 'trade'. I know an ex PEI who did his rotator cuff in an incident. The physio he went through to get him back on track was amazing. Might be worth talking to him.

Had this after an accident. After 8 weeks of physio, and still painful, I was then referred to the doctor for an injection in my shoulder. Worked liked magic, such a relief lol

I injured mine in a cycling accident. After the injury was less acute I had Physio at the local hospital for a few weeks. They gave me extra exercises to do at home. It can still hurt occasionally and I always stretch it out after a gym session. So Physio along with anti-inflammatories worked for me. Hope you get it sorted as it's very painful.

Brighton - even Hove!

I had this a couple of years ago, diagnosed as a frozen shoulder. I had physio and eventually a steroid injection which cured it.

If it's not torn and just damaged a cortisteroid injection does the job. I nearly ripped my arm off escaping from an arm bar 2 years ago

Had mine for over a year following a prolapsed disc and inflammation in my neck (amongst other dire problems) and the pain eventually went away.

I declined the steroid treatment.

It’s surprisingly low impact physio.

Mr injured his during lockdown. Had to sit at kitchen table and almost do a one inch punch(think kill bill) to the kitchen table. After a month or so his issue was gone.

Had problems with it for years. Only ever been offered physiotherapy, which is useless. Never been offered surgery.

I paid to see a shoulder specialist and he was great -gave me some interesting exercise with a towel

I've had shoulder troubles on and off for years, I thought from working at computer keyboards. But now I'm confirmed as suffering from an auto-immune version of arthritis, which triggered full blown after I got covid, but might well have been flaring on occasional basis for many years.

Depends how bad it’s injured. If it’s slight, rest and careful physio, but steroids really help if it doesn’t go away soon. My wife had a full thickness tear and ended up having surgery to fix it after 3 steroid treatments, which is as many as they will give you before deciding on surgery.

I'd see a specialist, but as part of recovery/rehabilitation some resistance bands might be useful.

Hope you get sorted out. Truly awful when it happens. Did mine with overuse in racket sports a few years back. Thankfully physio and strenghthening and time sorted mine without a need for surgery.

As someone who works in health insurance the most common starting treatment is physio, then if that doesn't work they'll refer to a Orthopaedic specialist

I had one in my right shoulder took about 2 years to get better still niggles a bit now I’d try and do certain movements in gym was off not having bench centred properly in the smith for steep inclines. I just let it heal on own but they do take a long time as shoulder joint constantly in use

I had rotator cuff its quite painfull and a nuisance. I just went to see nhs physio who were brilliant. go see your physio and make sure you keep up the excercises they give you, keep them up even after youve recovered as many are similar to a basic pilates regime.

Don’t know what it is but right shoulder always painful, can’t raise arm above shoulder height unless do it with other arm. If I hold my arm out and someone else rotates it so it goes above and below shoulder height it makes the most horrendous noises.

Always put it down to the fact that when I was younger that was my go too lifting/carrying shoulder, can’t carry anything on it now, think I weared it out
