Decided a few days ago i would like to try camping again, aint done it since i was a kid, so am looking for recomendations for gear i need, tent obviously and sleeping bag, I itend to stay fairly close to the civilised world I.E campsites so i can get water use showers etc
Dont want to spend too much money as its only a trial idea in my head
If any one could recomend a tent type would be good, two person size, have seen teh pop up type are they any good?
ALso sites to visit in yorkshire, do not need to be swinging campsites if such a thing exists
Transport will be a 3 door hatchback so wight of gear not a issue |

Get a tent you can stand up in.
A two man tent is all very well but when it's pissing with rain and you're trying to get out of wet clothes whilst crouched on the floor of a tiny tent it's not good.
I bought a Vango Albany... it's a six man job with a bedroom and a living area but I can put it up by myself. Was about 100 quid but worth spending a bit more to get something a bit bigger. Depends on how much you're going to use it I guess.
I love to camp so it was worth every penny!

we bought a great 6 berth tent last year in a sale for £100.
3 double rooms,and a living area,the living area beig the only area to be able to stand in.
other essentials is bedding,you can buy inflatable beds for around £10,not ideal,but much more comfortable than the hard ground,we got ours in tescos,also a couple of those little 1 ring burners n gas cylindrs,also from tescos
anything else you may need you may well have around the home,cuttlery plastic plates,cups etc
and very important,a mallet,oh n a cork screw |

If you google for tents direct it takes you to websites where you get them delivered to your home free delivery. The prices are very reasonable for vango and lichfield tents. |

Millets will also be preparing for their official Glastonbury camping equipment stockist promotion, so if you're not too bothered about quality and just want something disposable, like the ASDA, Halfords, or Argos stuff, that will probably be your best bet. Don't expect to get anything you can stand up in mind. I'd recommend the Vango range as well, they have been making tents for many many years and although they are most probably sourced from Vietnaam now I think that compared with a lot they are still good. It all comes down to how much an investment you want to make, if you're not sure you will enjoy it, you'd be better off trying to borrow one or looking on freecycle |

i see khyam makee some tents that are pretty easy to erect,anyone here used them at all?.
i am interested myself in camping again after a long lay off and wanting to get some camping gear so any info would be gratefully recieved. |

Cant wait to get back into it again this year!
you could try "Go Outdoors" thay are a chain so should have branches all over. they normally have monthly discounted tents, of various shapes and sizes.
As for the "accessories" i.e sleeping bags beds torch, and general camping bric a brac Tesco and Asda have great prices on these..which should be enough to get you started but without breaking the bank!
