Very Strange Feeling....

As some of you will know, Becky is working in Israel this summer. I am going out to join her in July. It's already been a tough few weeks for both of us, but the opportunity was simply too good for her to turn down and though we miss each other enormously it is an amazing adventure to be part of.
Tonight there has been a major terrorist incident close to where she is staying in Tel Aviv. It appears to be a Paris-style random shooting. She is safe and well, but naturally quite scared. We will assess the situation closely over the next few days and her employers have already proved to be excellent in their pastoral care.
It's so strange to not be able to be there for the person you love. We have obviously talked extensively on the phone tonight but I feel so impotent! If I didn't have child-care and work responsibilities, I'd be on the first plane!
Not sure I'll sleep tonight.

"Be strong. It's natural to worry but she is being looked after by her company. Don't stress over things you can't influence. She will like you being in contact though. "
Thanks Steve.
Not quite sure why I felt the need to broadcast this but typing it was therapeutic, and worda like yours definitely help. |

We're sorry to hear that. Trust that she is in good hands and that she will be well. Think of her and stay in contact, but try not to worry excessively, it won't help. Everything will be fine |

Not a nice feeling I know, my ex was in close protection so we were constantly in these situations. As harsh as it may sound it goes with the territory of going out to places like that. Just stay strong and keep your thoughts positive x |

That's scary.
In theory she's probably going to be even safer now though, what with tightened security and lightning not striking the same place twice etc.
Still doesn't make it easier though.

Thanks Courtney, I'm sure it will be.
Funny thing is, if I was there I'd know exactly what to so - but I feel so helpless here. Fingers crossed it's not an escalation and she has to come home! |

The forums can be a really good place to share worries some times. I find that people do want to help in general.
Hope things settle down but if not she may have to just come home. |

"Thanks for all your kind comments. They are helpful.
I'm actually physically shaking haha. Goodness me!"
Not surprising, you're worried sick and have every reason to be. But keeping it together for her sake is key |

In a similar situation. Seems to be a rouge attack tonight, hopefully nothing to follow.
I'm sure she will be safe now
Does no good worrying though,
This forum is always a good place for a release.

Thanks.
There are various reports, some of which state that a terrorist is still at large which is a bit worrying but hopefully it's an isolated incident. B appears to have fallen asleep now anyway which is good news; I might even settle myself in a bit |

Hopefully so, they usually are isolated.
Good news she's sound asleep. Funny thing is that they usually tend to be a lot calmer over there than we are over here. Get some rest and don't worry about a thing. It's all gonna be alright |

Thanks Jesus. I'll make sure to drop by on you when we are in Jerusalem in a few weeks |

I can't imagine your fear right now I know that I would be terrified.
All my wishes are to have her home safe to you as soon as possible.
Loads of knitter kisses and warm hugs for you both.

Aww, I hope you don't mind me commenting.... I'm sorry to hear this worrying news, but try to be positive, stay in contact with her, tell her you love her everytime you speak to her. Xx

I genuinely think there needs to be a little less God in the Holy Land tbh.
Fuck off Jesus!
(I've always wanted to say that )"
You should go on a pilgrimage then
And Jesus loves you and will always be here for you |

Long distance relationships can be hard at the best of times but if your partner is anxious or worried it makes it so much harder. I understand you feeling asif you're totally useless where you are but you're not, just being on the phone supporting them and being there is a comfort all of its own.
Bear in mind too that news reports here tend to be somewhat salacious and are rarely what they seem to be in truth |
