Could you ever have this kind of pedicure. Could you ever put your feet into a tank full of tiny fish and have them suck on your thick and flaky skin. I couldnt do it.
Im not keen on fish. If I see them in clear waters on holiday, I dont like to put my feet in the sea. The thought of them swimming around me is bad enough. I really couldnt have them sucking on my bunions.
What really bothers me is the infection risk. Fungal infections thrive in water water, imagine putting your feet in water that someone else has had their verrucas and athletes foot in. |

When I was in Belize, we where working at 1 of the outposts and we could only get bathed in the river. They used to come and clean out any cuts you had which also healed very quickly afterwards. |

"surely all the stuff the fish nibble on they eat, likes of skin and nasty stuff. then i assume it comes out as fish pooh"
Yeah that's right... nothing comes off the previous people's feet in the water unless the fish eat it. |

The Daily Record (part of the same group as the Sunday Mail) wrote this a few days ago.
"Experts are investigating infection risks from 'fish pedicure' spas
HEALTH chiefs are to probe popular pedicures where dead skin is sucked from the feet by tiny toothless fish.
Experts fear infections could be passed between customers through open wounds.
Now the Health Protection Agency will look at the high street treatment - which involves people putting their feet in tanks of water containing dozens of Garra Rufa fish.
The pedicures are popular in Asia but have been banned in some US states, including Florida, Texas, New Hampshire and Washington.
The Agency have not had any reports of infections - but decided to act after being contacted by worried environmental health officers.
An agency spokeswoman said: "The HPA will examine the most up-to-date evidence and publish UK-wide guidelines."
A spokeswoman at Beauty Feet Fish Spa in Glasgow city centre said clients' feet were checked before the treatment.
She added: "If they have any fungal infections or verrucas they can't go in. Each tank has its own filtration system and we regularly change the water." "

We were out yesterday and passed by a place offering fish spa. I had wanted to try it for ages but Ian wasn't so sure... however, he was subtly persuaded to give it a go and we both loved it - giggling like two silly little kids which is par for the course with us. Yes, I HAD looked into the risks etc beforehand and feel sorry for the fish but then, they wouldn't do it if they didn't enjoy it would they? and yes, the water may not contain chemicals but it is continuously filtered. Oh - and they checked our feet out thoroughly before allowing us in...
