on a lighter note its what you do during the day to get yourself tired
1. do odd jobs that keep you busy
2. go 2 gym
3. eat before 6pm cut the snacks out
4. dont drink t or coffee after 9
5. if all fails see the doc |

Some serious (I can be serious at times!!) advice. Try some cardiac exercise, something that'll make you sweat and loose your breath (behave... to the ones that are thinking sex lol!!). Cycling, running... even dancing around your own house like a loon will get your natural sleep endorphins going when you settle for the night. Sex will have the same sort of effect but you ain't stoopid enough to get married so you have a bloke available every night lol xx |

There are many everyday reasons for not sleeping well:
* the bedroom may be too noisy, too hot or too cold
* the bed may be uncomfortable or too small
* you don't have a regular sleep routine
* you partner has a different pattern of sleep from you
* you aren't getting enough exercise
* you eat too late - and find it hard to get off to sleep
* you go to bed hungry - and wake up too early
* cigarettes, alcohol and drinks containing caffeine, such as tea and coffee
* illness, pain or a high temperature.
More serious reasons include:
* emotional problems
* difficulties at work
* anxiety and worry
* depression - you wake very early and can't get back to sleep
* thinking over and over about problems - usually without getting anywhere with them.

Here are some simple tips that many people find helpful:
Do's
* Make sure that your bed and bedroom are comfortable - not too hot, not too cold, not too noisy.
* Make sure that your mattress supports you properly. If it's too firm, your hips and shoulders are under pressure. If it's too soft, your body sags, which is bad for your back. Generally, you should replace your mattress every 10 years to get the best support and comfort.
* Get some exercise. Don't overdo it, but try some regular swimming or walking. The best time to exercise is in the daytime - particularly late afternoon or early evening. Later than this can disturb your sleep.
* Take some time to relax properly before going to bed. Some people find aromatherapy helpful.
* If something is troubling you and there is nothing you can do about it right away, try writing it down before going to bed and then tell yourself to deal with it tomorrow.
* If you can't sleep, get up and do something relaxing. Read, watch television or listen to quiet music. After a while, you should feel tired enough to go to bed again.
Don'ts
* Don't go without sleep for a long time. Go to bed when you feel tired and stick to a routine of getting up at the same time every day, whether you still feel tired or not.
* Caffeine hangs around in your body for many hours after your last drink of tea or coffee. Stop drinking tea or coffee by mid-afternoon. If you want a hot drink in the evening, try something milky or herbal (but check there's no caffeine in it).
* Don't drink a lot of alcohol. It may help you fall asleep, but you will almost certainly wake up during the night.
* Don't eat or drink a lot late at night. Try to have your supper early in the evening rather than late.
* If you've had a bad night, don't sleep in the next day - it will make it harder to get off to sleep the following night.
* Don't use slimming tablets - many of these will tend to keep you awake.
* Don't use street drugs like Ecstasy, cocaine and amphetamines - they are stimulants, and like caffeine, will tend to keep you awake.

I would say that if you have tried everything and it seems to still not work then go chat with your doctor maybe and see what he suggests.
I had the same problem with my 10 year old and after many years of problems his sleep problem had become a real problem so docs prescribed him a few days on some meds which restarted him in a normal sleep pattern.
Did all of that after a number of years of probs tho alongside all the other suggestions.
So maybe it is time to raise your concerns and see if the docs can suggest anything else other than what you have already been doing.
Wishing you zzzzzzzzz's |

I try to take a quick walk with my dogs every night to help me sleep. I also feel that as a single parent and being responsible for a wee one you tend to sleep with one eye and one ear open anyway.
I've found the best nights sleep I have is when I'm away from Titch for the night or he is having a sleep over with pals. No amount of medication can break that bond of a parent listening out for their child in the night, I've been like that for almost thirty years now.
You just have to give yourself a break from worries and the wee one, maybe a friend or relly could help out? xxx |

Please dont think im a sob story.. my life is awesome!
I have a non existent thyroid gland, i've been under a specialist consultant for 2 years now with medications being changed every 4 weeks and blood testing the same. I was told 5 month ago my body is shutting down as a result of this.. Ive have little energy as a result of having practically no metabolism. When Doctors first saw my results she had to bring in a second doctor just to be sure she was reading the correct result. She was amazed i was walking let alone raising a child on my own. I knew i was putting on weight despite having a relatively healthy diet (no ones perfect but im certainly no take out junky)
I was severly depressed after learning that my mother was raped by her dad, she attempted suicide twice.Brought back memories from when i was too raped at 13. I found out i was pregnant at 31 weeks (pretty big shock as i had the implant fitted) Took myself off anti depressants as it wasn't healthy for the baby, guess i suffered PND as a result of not being able to bond with my child, i was too hyped up in buying things for her and kinda forgetting 'Wait... this is MY child, not someone elses'
Weight continued to build and still does.
Feel a lil bit better for typing that out haha - sorry to have bored you (if your still reading at this point)
Sleep just would be an amazing thing to have.. |

You'll understand this more than most.. an average TSH blood result should be between 0.5 and 5 and an average T4 blood result should read between 4.5 and 12.5
My TSH result is 22 and my T4 is 288
When my body fucks up.. it really fucks up haha.. im currenly on 500mcg of Thyroxine and its barely touching my thyroid gland. |

Ive been under active for 11 years now,, it was stable at first, only needed 50mcg,, then in the past 3 years its gone mental.
Luckily im not diabetic (although carrying on this way im sure i will be) been tested for cushings syndrome, and they also ran T3 tests on my pituitary gland and those all came back clear. I am very anaemic which doesnt help but ive been advisted not to take the Ferreous Gluconate (iron) as it 'eats' thyroxine
so tired through a latargic fucked up metabolism, and tired cos my body doesnt have iron.. woooo lol |
