A lot of people have probably experienced a lot of time wasters in the past and probably put you into that bracket as well because of it.
Take no notice.
Hope all is well |

Assuming you told them as soon as you could, then you have nothing to reproach yourself for.
Concentrate on your mum. You only have one compared to the many, many nice people on here. |

People that have given you grief for doing so arent worth worrying about. These things happen cant be helped..not like you cancelled to wash your hair.

Cancelling in good time is not being a time waster, failing to attend is. Sadly some people won't give you a second chance if you cancel, whatever the reason, but the only thing you can do is move on. At the start of the year I had so much happen and go wrong I was at something like 2/7 attend/cancel ratio. It does balance out
As you said though, family comes first and I hope your mum is better soon |

I've cancelled in the past, and may have to do in the future, had my fair share of abuse and been called a fake.
Family and real life first - always.
Wishing your Mum a speedy recovery. |

How dare you put your family before a stranger's fun.
Hope your mother's okay.
I'm assuming strangers because friends wouldn't abuse you or assume you were a timewaster.
I've been on the other end of this. We wished them well and rescheduled. Had a great meet a few days later.
If people throw a tantrum because plans change, take it as a warning sign. |

All the best fella, hope Mum recovers well.
In terms of the response you got I guess it depends on how well you know the people concerned, if it's a first meet etc - many will have heard every excuse under the sun previously and so become cynical when they get another cancellation to the point where genuine ones are treated with the same cynicism.
I'm sure it's nothing personal against you so brush it off, look after your Mum, and come back to Fab when it's appropriate to do so.
Take care buddy |

As far as I'm concerned a time waster is someone who doesn't turn up at al. Cancelling in advance is acceptable even if annoying.
Family will always come 1st, I don't care what others say or think about that. I'm a single parent, things happen that are out of our control.
I hope your mum isn't too poorly & is back home soon xx |

Don't worry about the negative responses, just concentrate on your mum, she is your priority right now. You gave notice of cancelling and that doesn't make you a timewaster. I have no problem with anyone who will cancel with notice, we all have lives outside of Fab and sometimes this has to take priority, especially if unexpected events occur. |

Unfortunately it's known to be used in excuses before so some people now take a cynical view. Sad but true.
Does it really matter though. At the end of the day you know it's true and to be honest would yoi really want to meet people who put getting a shag over the health of someone else? |

On every "timewasters excuses" thread the top excuse is a sick relative so ppl just lumped you in with them
When really you're different to them, you've posted a thread so it's all good
Hope ur mum is ok |

Hope your mum is okay op.X
Had to cancel a meet yesterday due to heat giving me a headache and was vomiting. Canceled couple of hours before and got abuse back. He slagged us off on his status so blocked and reported.
Did notice he'd put up a meet several hours before we'd canceled ...so in all feel we had a lucky escape . |
