A friend of mine, who sadly passed in 2011, regularly wore a fez, for no other reason than he liked it.
He was at various times, a Catholic priest defrocked for shagging the bishops nephew, a poet, basing himself in a room in a Parisian brothel and a concierge in a London mansion block where he seemed to spend most of his time snorting and sucking rich Arabs off.
I miss him. The world is short of characters |

"I'll go for a Fez, Fez's are cool. Though I may be a bit influenced by Dr Who on that
I do have a fez - that's the dealer's hat when we play cards"
Everyone knows a Fez is a hat for smoking in , the green peaked visor is for card shenanigans |

A purple wizards hat with stars on it. A really tall one so you have to duck going through doorways and under low bridges.
I think it would look... magic. |

No, I have an embroidered Lock & Co smoking cap for that - was sold to me as a 'Masonic Fez' oddly enough but I recognised the label, Googled it when I got home and bought it for about 8% of the retail value.
It's quite something.

It's hard to stand out from the crowd when everyone is dressed like Freddie Mercury.
The sombrero helps |
