It was one our favourite programmes with Jeremy , and having watched 15 minutes of Evans version - never again . How can such a great show be turned into such dross so quickly ?

First one was not bad, Matt le Blanc was pretty good. The old Top Gear was great, but it started off with the 3 of them being a bit weak, so give it a few episodes to find its feet. Top Gear extra was quite good as well.
As a petrolhead I'm glad there are more car programs around |

more Evans doing some screaming at some amazeballs power then loosing it unexpectedly after he's already lost it countless times before. Then some shitty race round some shitty new race race track whilst doing a cringeworthy interview with the guests but getting out of it by letting them present their own interview.
And if Jordan does get given the mic, a boorish 5 minutes of statistical shit before someone grasps it out of his hands and punches him to liven it up! |

I'm watching extra gear now which is ok.
I was disappointed with the first episode but I'll stick with it for a while and give them a chance.
Far to many Fanboys on here that seem to think they are showing some kind of misguided loyalty to Clarkson by writing off the the new show before it's had a chance. (And I'm a big Clarkson fan)
It was no better and no worse than some of the lacklustre episodes of the original that they are quick to forget. |

The new Top Gear didn't work because Chris Evans tried to hard to be like Jeremy Clarkson and failed totally. Matt Le Blanc was better then Richard Hammond but mainly due to the fact there was nobody who can replace Captain Slow. |

I think it's better than the Clarkson beginning, people seem to forget it's one episode of a show, and there's a lot of Clarkson fans who just can't seem to let him go...
I saw a bit of the early era of when Clarkson, Hammond and May see on Top Gear and they weren't great at the start at all. |

You have a point, however now the standard has been set there really no excuse for producing something that bad. It was truly hideous! Typical Chris Evans doing, whatever he does, with no regard for anything else. This was just TFI with the occasional car. Nothing was relevant, current, or made any sense. A complete mess.
The old team had a tendency to be rather chaotic, but somehow you left the show learning something about the cars, I learnt a lot about how difficult it is to drive a truck for instance, and also that sometimes the cheaper cars were better. Sadly I learnt nothing from the first show AND it was so humourless! Yes I know Chris Evans thinks he's funny but really he's more funny peculiar rather than funny ha ha!
The BBC can do better than this. We're paying for this shit. The only saving grace was Matt Leblanc. He was the only interesting thing in the whole show, and I could actually listen to him without having my ears blown off.
The fact is Chris Evans has always been bad at doing programs for grown ups, or people who haven't had a belly full of alcohol to appreciate his inane sense of humour.
RIP Top Gear! |

I think the biggest problem is that people are remembering all the great bits from years and years of Top Gear and somehow expecting the new version to compete with all that historical fun and mayhem in a single episode.
That's just crazy. There were more than enough dull episodes of the old series too for me to have switched off and on again a few months later.
It's gonna take literally an entire series (or two) for them to get into the swing of it after losing presenting team in one hit.
I'll watch both and, even though one will be better than the other, will give credit where due to both based on their own merit. Not on some misplaced sense of loyalty to the original cast.
(I was wearing a really nice pair of Tag Heuer sun glasses today that were a gift from Clarkson years ago) |

There is a lack of chemistry between Evans and le blanc of course that could cone with time but I just don't think they would ever get on. Evans lacks the technical knowledge also. I always thought they should of gone all out and got Jenson Button and Coulthard as you'd have respected people in terms of knowledge and they are real life friends so I imagine they'd bounce off each other well. Of course while JB is racing this is impossible |

Much better show tonight.
Can't believe someone above said Evans doesn't have the technical knowledge. He is much more of a peteol head than Clarkson.
JC is a journalist who landed a job on the car pages of his local newspaper and followed that through to this conclusion. Which he is great at.
But if he had landed the racing pages instead he would have wound up as a version of John Mecrerik or if he had the food page would have been running an hilariousl foody review show.
JC is a comedic journalist who landed with cars. Evans is a producer who along with that has an incredible passion for everything to do with cars. |

Evans got a lot of his facts wrong on the McLaren F1GTR tonight.
He also spoilt it yet again by shouting for no apparent reason.
Eddie Jordan really is a village idiot too. Deliberately damaging the Merc to make funny viewing is just pathetic. |

no misplaced sense of loyalty to the original cast here; whilst some were sitting in watching top gear, I was at my local enjoying sunshine, friends and beer in the beer garden which is a glorious suntrap

I personally preferred the old top gear where they actually talked about cars.
Top gear was moulded and became the "Clarkson Hammond and May" show.
Therefore, the new show was inherently doomed for failure as we're still expecting the same banter.
It's a new show guys, so don't expect the same jokes and calamities.
I don't mind Matt LB but Chris Evans can't seem to drive a car without giving the impression he's never been in a fast car before. Jenson Button was a better presenter talking about the radio whilst Chris was soiling the passenger seat |

Is it the Hoonigan episode tonight?
I think people are forgetting how boring the old show was before the Clarskon, May and Hammond hit it off together.
Three were also whole chunks of some of the old series that were dull enough to make me turn off. ( and I'm a big fan of the old show)
Many are remembering the great stuff from years and years of the old Top Gear and comparing that to two episodes of the new one.
I think they are doing pretty well, all things considered. |

I read somewhere the BBC editing team had to use Canned Laughter in certain sections of the filmed audience bits, as the scripted jokes/gabs had no reaction from the crowd.
I have the link from the Telegraph which confirms the above but cant post as you tend to get banned for posting links, as I have found |

I'm guessing the producers stuck to the old formula as it sells throughout the world. Whether the new presenters have the same appeal to the audience waits to be seen.
My opinion.. Bin the big names, (the star in the car is painful ) get some decent motoring presenters and go from a fresgh start |

I've been watching TG for thirteen years, and I've never seen it this unentertaining. It's all so forced.
I wouldn't reinstate the previous trio, but I'd certainly bring Rory Reid and Chris Harris to the fore and tone it all down a bit, so as to not resemble a poor parody of pre-fracas TG. |

It was always utter rubbish if you take a step back and look objectively at it.
Question how can you indorse an entertainment program going to a war zone and having soldiers who have enough on there plate having to "protect" actors for the sake of entertainment |
