Positive Facebook stories

Had a friend request from an old friend yesterday, who was in quite a bad way the last time I saw him, drugs and alcohol had taken their toll on him and he was self destructing at an alarming rate, we all lost contact with him when he got sectioned, and he sort of fell of the planet.

So when I got the friend request I was delighted, and being the nosey git that I am, I immediately had a look through his photos and profile, he's doing better than good, he's doing amazing, sober for 12 years beautiful wife, and three too cute to be real children owns his own house and has a great job.

He said that it was regrettable that he had to cut everyone off that he knew to get well, but he needed it, he couldn't even be around people who drank socially so he moved and started out on his own, and over the last two years he has started to build back some of the healthier relationships he had before, I'm so glad I'm one of them, we're going to play golf next week, and I'm taking the kids round in two weeks time for a bbq.

I'm so glad to have him back in my life, and I'm so glad he is doing so well.

Anyone else had a positive come from the book of face

That's great that he has managed to turn his life around.

I don't think I have any positive stories but also no negative ones so I guess I am fairly lucky on that respect.

That's good to read.

My whole experience of Facebook has been positive. I use it, it doesn't use me, I have my privacy settings on lock down and no phone number on my account. I can keep in touch with far flung relatives the younger of which would never think to pick up a phone and friends in foreign parts can keep a connection.

People who complain about Facebook either don't use it or don't use it to their advantage.

I'm the same. Total privacy, no phone number and my only friends are people I actually know.

i have family that has suffered addiction and to make that move and separate yourself from the old life completely is difficult but often necessary - totally pleased for your mate - as for facebook i use it for the buyand sell pages and for friends gossip to keep up with what they and the kids are up to - i rarely post on my page-- good stories that work are lost pets and more recently catching crooks - people having cctv cameras and posting stills of the criminal in action - so yes very positive stuff comes out of fb

Exactly, and I found an old favourite college buddy I'd lost touch with now living in France and we've got together two or three times, had some hilarious fun, just like old times.

I use mine to keep tabs on my daughter and as a storage area for my holiday pics, and that's it.

My mates sister used her Facebook to keep tabs on what her daughter was up to, turned out she had two accounts, one that all the family had, and one reporting the level of alcohol she had been consuming, she got caught out though when Her dodgy profile came up in "people you may know"

GROUNDED! lol

Hands up im an addict to Facebook, i love it

I hope ive all my privacy settings done.. (never been an outsider and tried to snoop on my own account to check)

Ive under 300 friends and regularly 'cull'.. I know of A LOT of people but doesnt make them a friend. I do have people from FAB who i havent met but im friendly with and enjoy their banter, to me its still an extension of some kind of social circle even though its a virtual one.

Ive work collegues , school friends, army family and actual family on there.

I use it like a running diary/blog of what me and the nipper are up to and i love looking back thanks to Timeline at previous years gone by to see just how much things have changed/ progressed in life 3

Great to hear the news for the Ops friend. I have 2 mates on the long road to getting clean and dry and it's a real struggle for them. Fantastic news.

As for Facebook I don't do it. I don't get it so I hide.

on the road to nowhere in particular

It keeps me in touch with old school friends and distant relatives in far flung parts. It's fun seeing people from here come up as "people you might know"

Brilliant news OP.

I like FB for what I use it for. I post more info on here than I do on there.

erm...I think I'm doing it wrong...

I take multiple photos of myself, from different angles, and post them on every day or like... 6 times a day And I don't care if people think 'Omg I know how you look like. Stop it'

And they better fucking comment on those pics!!!!! 'Omg! You're so much hotter than 6 minutes ago when you posted that other selfie of exact same thing....'

What?! I'm an insecure girl

;-)
