I have a go bag for such occasions, it consists of.
1pair of jeans
2pairs of socks
2 pairs of pants
2 t-shirts
1 white shirt
Swim shorts
Wash kit
£30 cash
Pre paid credit card loaded with £200
Small bag of boiled sweets
Note book and pen set
I first put it together when my dad was taken ill and I kept it under my bed just incase I got a call to say he had taken a turn for the worse, but on that occasion he fully recovered, I keep it now because if my son stays at his mothers and I fancy having a country le of days away, I can be on my way within 10 minutes at the most.
I refresh it every two weeks, so it's ready, I'm going to have to do one for my son too, that way if the weather is nice we can just grab the go bags and be on the beach within a couple of hours

Basic clothes changes, purse with money and cards, essential toiletries and makeup. Most of that can be purchased wherever you are as can other items you need. Give away or post excess stuff before you return. I travel hand baggage only 99% of the time. Wear an extra item if stuck and take off on board plus use all pockets. |

I like the pre-paid card idea. |

"Credit card
That can be carried in a pocket.
Nothing else is essential , dump the bag"
I'm trying to holiday on a budget. Putting everything on a credit card just adds to debts I'm trying to get rid of. |

Check the flight info
Because I only recently found out you can actually have 2 pieces of hand luggage
Both weighting 10kg each
But one is smaller then the other
Tooth brush
Sun cream
Clean undies
Swim wear
Wash kit
Shorts and top
Maybe pair of jeans
Rest you can buy there cheap
I have a euro passport card I top up that way you can only spend what you have on there without coming home to any nasty surprises
But you can top it up whenever you want |

It's going to be in Italian cities so lots of sightseeing. I won't be taking swim wear as I don't swim. And jeans will be too bulky and too hot to wear. I don't want to be buying anything as I'm sticking to a budget. |

They are brilliant, my daughter has one, that has about £5 on it at the moment but if she should be in any trouble I can load it in seconds by bank transfer, helps me sleep at night lol |

That's pretty hardcore advice...
Once a year I go to the F1 and spend 4 - 5 days away and my bag is similarly packed... Except plus...
And iPad and two pairs of shorts.
Minus the note pad.
Oh and I always load a dollar denominated card. |

Ok then but with the two bags you should get everything in
Don't forget you can't have bottles of liquid over 100mg
Loose clothes
Comfy shoes to walk in

I only ever take cabin luggage.hanging around at baggage reclaim is just a pain...all your liquids.shampoo, conditioner.mouthwash etc are easily available in travel sizes under 100 ml...you can get quite a lot of clothing into a cabin luggage sizes bag if you squeeze it all hard enough.
The difficult bit is shoes...sometimes just have to go with the bare minimum of 5 or six pairs but then...There are plenty of shops in all good holiday destinations...oh yes.never go without credit cards. |

I'm only allowed one bag of 10kg. I've already got empty travel bottles for shampoo etc.
I've got walking sandals which can go with much of what I intend taking.
Just wondering if there was anything I should really not forget to take since luggage is so limited. |

Check!
I also have to take a towel. I've got one of those microfibre travel ones which is light and takes up very little space. |

Which airline are you going with because Ryanair you can have 2 pieces
And I know a few others you can ring and check it's worth it if it means you go a little more space
Have you got a pre paid card?
If you have a contract phone check to make sure it's not gonna cost to use it abroad
Do you have insurance and an E111 card
God I sound like a proper mummy now lol

Jet2. I've checked and it's just a 10kg case of certain dimensions which I have. I might be able to have a handbag but I'm taking a small one just in case I have to put it in the case. Got travel insurance and need a new E111.
I might get a PAYG sim for my phone. |

If you use 3 you can use the phone no extra charge just check but Italy should be ok
Maybe get a 30 day contract
Just pack what you can
You can always hand wash your stuff
And most importantly just enjoy yourself |

We're staying in hostels mostly so there's washing facilities if we need them.
Looking forward to it. Wanted to go back to Rome for ages. |

I usually pack a few hours before I leave but have everything ready.

It's different with kids.
But it's me and two other singles and we're using trains to get around so need to travel light anyway. |
