Was anyone here brought up by ultra strict religious parents - the no sex before marriage, etc, etc type?
I remember getting a lecture from my parents when I was around 17 because I hugged a guy my age (I hugged him goodbye!).
I think it's made me reserved in some areas (nagging guilt) but ultimately pushed me to be really promiscuous.

Nope, was brought up by my mother and my two sets of grandparents, did what the hell I wanted and was the only one out of my friends that never got into trouble when we said we were staying over each other's houses when really we were camping out with the boys. My family never checked where I was just knew I'd come home for food and a wash! |

I was raised as a Catholic. My mum is a practising Catholic. She believes oral sex is a sin amongst other things.

Wow. When I was in my mid 20's I moved back home for a bit for financial reasons (I had lived on my own in my own flat for a while). They gave me a load of grief for staying out all night on more than one occasion. I got a mobile phone so they could contact me if needed but apparently that "wasn't the point".
(My brother however was allowed to do what the fuck he liked, and would disappear off for days and they didn't care.)

My parents were relatively relaxed, let me go out playing as a kid, let me walk most of the way to primary school as a kid by myself after I was walked across the big main road that was about half way there, let me go down to the beach with friends and to sleepovers from about 10/11. Then as I grew into an older teenager, about 16/17, they didn't give me many restrictions, I used to go out with work mates from about 17 onwards, my parents didn't mind as my work mates were always at least a couple of years older.
I think, because I didn't have rules to rebel against I behaved myself, and I've always been sensible with drink and other things. |

I had all the early stuff you did, but as soon as it was suspected I was hanging out with guys, it stopped.
It's amazing I'm not bi or gay to get around that one! |

No, i always held the ace card. Although my mum didnt discuss sex it wasnt frowned on just wasnt spoken about much in that day.
Thankfully my mum and dad split up when i was 11 otherwise no boy would have dared come to our house |

Yes my mother was a jw and was forced to go 3 times a week until late I was about 12 when I point blank refused to go anymore. A little while later was put into care because apparently I was out of control. As hard as it was it all played it's part in making me the man and father I now am. so no regrets and definitely no tears here  |

None of mine were religious but were very strict and my dad was 100% authoritarian. I never got nagged or anything but told to behave and if i didn't behave i got hit, punched, kicked ot whatever.
I think it's why i'm so anti-authority myself and very much don't give a shit about being told what to do.
Nothing to do with being promiscuous myself i feel, i just love sex. I don't have daddy issues either. |
