It used to be said that a flash of the headlights or the interior lights were an invitation to guys to come loiter by the car and watch. However, about two years ago I drove a couple to a Midlands dogging as they were curious. We parked up and planned to just sit there (there were a few other cars around but it was fairly quiet). Unfortunately, I forgot that when I take my key out of the ignition the interior lights come on automatically and stay on for about 15 seconds. Before we knew it we were surrounded! They freaked and we left pretty quick. Was very amusing in hindsight.

it depends where you are some police forces are very relaxed about it and even have a chat.
