So ladies (&the rest of you who like floaty numbers). I have a problem *insert dramatic music*.
Ive recently decided to broaden my signiture work wardrobe from fitted pencil dresses to include floaty numbers like swing styles (i felt it only fitting )
So what pray tell is wrong? Well living in the north west, the wind is not my friend and i have found my commute consists of me flashing all my fellow pedestrians when a gust blows up me (oooo err mrs).
Is there trick i dont know that doesnt involve me walking with my hands pinned to my sides like a soldier on parade?
Tips and offers of skirt holders welcome. Alternatively post your own clothing dilemnas for the rest of us to solve ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

If you get a really sexy petticoat which is heavy, only that'll show.
My dilemma was wearing a new swimsuit then realising on entering the pool I still had that, don't take this off when trying on, strip stuck to the gusset. I kept thinking it was going to come out and stick to my thigh. |

Blackpool lass problems! I hear you Vara. The way I get around it is to batten down one side with a long handbag and flatten the other with my hand as needed. |

"Yes the trick is to wear enough petticoata underneath and if the wind blows the petticoata keep your modesty covered. This was tried and tested on brighton pier with great success"
Its less 50s and more cotton style modern swing so i think a petticoat would be too much xx |

Retro seamed stockings, big pants and a smile. I have been there on a social meet. He much enjoyed the view of said garments, apparently.
Or a slip or petticoat. I have a girdle and a corselette as well and the longer line ones are ace as a slip. |

you can buy weights just for this purpose, i dont know if they have a name, but they are like a bugle bead so very easy to sew in...maybe online,or if you have a proper haberdasher near? |

"Sew into the inside of the hem, fishing lead weights have a split in them which you can squeeze onto the thread. "
Before anyone asks, it's what we used to do when I was in the forces to get your trousers to hang properly. ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

But don't overdo it OP, or the weight will pull your dress down so much your boobs will pop out...

"You can get skirt weights from the haberdasher. The queen asked that Kate get them fitted but she did not.
Queen?
Kate?
Who?"
The queen of England and her grandson prince Williams wife.
How can you not know that |

Ok, the options as I see it:
A) some kind of guy ropes (just hold that thought you're having...) no, I mean like tents have to stop them blowing away. You'd have to employ some small children to hold them, a bit like a maypole.
B) some kind of bracing underneath like an umbrella, so straps from dress to your thighs (suspenders)
C) some kind of overskirt netting to weigh down skirt
D) anyone still with me as I think I have over thought the whole problem.
I'd do nothing and enjoy the thrill of it (having ensured I was wearing very nice undies)

For better advice, it would help to see some pics of you with the dress catching the wind

"I would let the breeze take it and let everyone see .....
Or keep your hands down so doesnt float up.for all to see
"
This happened to me at Milton Keynes train station - I flashed everything to a London bound train!!!
I love my Lady V dresses but they are so lightweight. I tend to wear a thin knee length raincoat over them.
