I think he should have gone, certainly before a couple of others based on his form this season but can see that 'safe safe' Hodgson looks to have preferred some of the others who have past experience at that level..

A woman was wheeling a rack of England shirts into my local Sainsburys a week ago. I said to her she would be best to leave them on the rack as it would be less trouble when she has to wheel them all back in a couple of weeks time.

She agreed with me

Jack Wilshere also very injury prone. Personally speaking I would have taken Drinkwater after the season he's had.

Im glad Rashford made the team.

Bit of a risk with 3 injured players..

Think Drinkwater was unfortunate to miss out

Even at his age I'm surprised Carrick hasn't been picked. Mind you he's been overlooked by England most of his career.

Who do England have who can dictate from deep, and even drop in at centre-back if needed? Dier and Carrick, and I think that's it.

Drinkwater can play from deep but he's less versatile.

Seems so strange to pick a squad with a load of pace up front and leave behind the better long passers.

(Watch them win it now)

I am actually going to the euros and one of the top 350 England fans in the country. I travel home and away with England. I am very non objective, England comes first and I want England to do well. If I was the same I would not want Stirling or hart in squad because they play for city

I used to think Milner was a fraud when he was at city and at villa. also hendo offers nothing.

In my eyes we are a defender short, and one striker two many unless Roy sees Rooney playing midfield.

I will support them when they are there but my opinions still stand.

Just a heads up Liverpool England fans are detested by other clubs with England.

Who wants to be in with a free chance of winning £50 million quid this summer! All you have to do is predict the results of each game in the Euro 2016 football tournament (no need for score predictions just a simple win, lose or draw option to pick from each game). This is totally free to enter and play I did mine earlier today. If you are on twitter then search #50million. This competition is in association with the vote Leave website for the EU referendum campaign. You can also easily find it on Google, just search "win £50 million euro2016 vote Leave" to find the link. Absolutely free for anyone to play, why not have a go you could be picking up a cheque for £50 million quid after the tournament. Closing date to enter is 8pm on June 9th.

Verratti's injury, and Bonucci carrying one into the tournament, make me lukewarm on Italy. They were my favourites until then but those are two influential players.

I like the look of the France squad, but don't know if they have a settled eleven or if their heads are on the job. They're my favourites though.

Austria are my each way pick.

"Goalkeepers: Joe Hart (Manchester City), Fraser Forster (Southampton), Tom Heaton (Burnley).

Defenders: Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), John Stones (Everton), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur), Ryan Bertrand (Southampton), Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur), Nathaniel Clyne (Liverpool).

Midfielders: Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur), Ross Barkley (Everton), Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), James Milner (Liverpool), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal).

Strikers: Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Jamie Vardy (Leicester City), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United)

"

I wouldn't of taken Henderson, Lallana, Wilshire, or even Sterling. Not one of them has had even half a decent season between them, very disappointed Drinkwater hasn't gone especially as he supplied quite a lot of balls to Vardy to run onto and score off, surely it makes sense to play combining team mates at times because they know how each other plays !

If I really went in people would hate me forever. I personally don't rate any of the full backs at international level and my boy stones ain't ready - possibly never will be. Lallana ain't international level either. In fact Roy failed miserably at Liverpool and got England job. Favouritism doesn't win tournaments guys

Would have taken Carrick in place of Henderson - better insurance for Dier.

Think I would also have left Bertrand and taken Baines, if only for dead balls late on.

Feel sorry for Butland. I would have had him as first-choice.

I don't always help myself on that opinion, never have done, and probably never will do

Gathering from a number of fellow fans that travel with England a few are also questioning hendos and milners inclusion and they are not united or Liverpool fans

a question that gets asked to me what did I think about Ashley cole, an absolute wanker of a person based on media reporting and his book however in an England shirt done no wrong

fair play for saying that..

i don't see that anyone can and should have such an attitude about any of their biggest rivals, by all means have banter and rip the mick out of each other (which i do with my best man who being born in Prestwich is as red as they come) but when hate is used it's not necessary, needed or a good trait in adults who are sports fans at the end of the day..

and yes passion for ones team does lead us to get a bit excited..

i would have dropped Henderson or Wilshire and had Drinkwater personally but like all these things we have to trust in those who are paid to do that..

Can't believe that in all the messages above nobody has questioned why the hell he is taking Rooney! So much is made of his goal record but considering most of these are penalties in friendly games that don't matter he has done little for England. His contribution in competitive meaningful games is well below what it should be.

Just putting it out there but how about a striker who'll give his heart and soul every game? Someone like Troy Deeney of Watford.

I'd question Rooney starting (mostly because I'd question playing a diamond), but he's too versatile to leave out altogether.

If you were looking to offload a striker for Deeney it's hard to pick one. He's most similar to Kane of the four but you'd pick Kane over him. Vardy's pace is worth keeping, and Rashford us a wide option as well as through the middle.

Could maybe replace Sturridge depending on his fitness, but on form I think Defoe would deserve the call-up over Deeney anyway.

I think taking wilshire of drinkwater is a complete joke how can you leave someone out who has just won the league and been in the best form all season yet wilshire only played 144 minutes for arsenal!!

Every time Wilshere falls over you wonder if he's going to be able to get up?

Not from England so probably my opinion doesn't count but how Hodgson can take 2 recently injured players in Wilshire and Henderson over Drinkwater just seems fucking madness

"Who wants to be in with a free chance of winning £50 million quid this summer! "

Link for this competition to win £50 Million if you predict all the results in the Euro 2016 tournament correctly. If no one manages it then person who guesses most games correctly wins £50,000

4,918,301,009,412,067,196,928 to 1.

Those are the odds apparently.

Good luck with that.

Worth a shot, even if you don't win the £50 million, player who guesses the most correct games wins a guaranteed £50,000

Bideford

England will be out of europe before the rest of the country has a vote.

We are weak at the back so will let too many foreigners in.
