Yup. I have sleeping tablets now for when it's really bad

Try valerian tea or tablets - natural remedy that helps and I have a relaxation / hypnotherapy app too that makes a difference x

I never used to have a problem sleeping, but over the last year I've had issues off and on. Not really sure what to do about it so I just read until I get so tired that I can't seem to keep my eyes open. It's been working pretty well.

I'm a terrible sleeper.

Even more so after my recent op and the hot weather lol..

Last night I turned the to off at 11..was awake just after 12 until 2.30am... Awake again at 3.45... Then just after 5... And again at 6.45

Bizarrely moved from shifts to days at work but sleeping less although that might have something to do with "sleeping" next to a pneumatic sinus that can rattle the windows.

Doctors advised me against sleeping pills....apparently show up in autopsies

I suffer from sleepless nights from pain. Oxycodone and diphenhydramine help me, maybe just the latter will work for you.

Melatonin is quite popular in America, not too well known here, maybe worth asking your doctor.

On a lighter note. Doc said sex was good for the arthritis ;O) imagine the look on my face as I was being told....of course I,ll give it a try I responded

You can, if it's serious enough, as a last resort. Diphenhydramine 50mg will work just as well as zopiclone though (or any of the Z drugs) and you can buy it over the counter.

Ahh right, thanks for that. I've often asked the doc. He said the effects of sleeping pills.Plus what I'm taking...would make me even more groggy during the day. That the combination wouldn't react well.

I've added this a few times before but blue Light emitted by TV, computers and lights disrupts our body clocks.

We naturally produce melatonin, a hormone which helps initiate and sustain sleep. Its production rises in the evening but any light that has blue spectrum within it is picked up by our eyes and decreases melatonin production. It's thus naturally healthy for your body to not see it late in the day. You can get filters for T.V. phones and computers or use apps like f.lux that change the light type, according to the time of the day.

Sticking to a regular 7 days a week routine can be hard but is a good foundation too.

"Can't take herbal stuff, because I'm on antidepressants. That's another reason why they won't give me sleeping tabs. Absolute nightmare..."

I'm on anti-depressants (30mg Citalopram) & have sleeping tabs. GP prescribed Phenergan 25mg which is also an anti-histamine that causes drowsiness - can be bought over the counter. I've only taken 10 tabs in 2 yrs though as I don't like taking them when the children are here so avoid unless really necessary.

Doctors are reluctant to prescribe sleeping tablets as they're usually avoidable and unnecessary in most cases, and some just seek them to access more noxious drugs. You can still ask for them, and inform your doctor that you know of the risks but you cannot continue on little to no sleep.

I've not heard of that but there is published research that shows Melatonin production disrupted by blue lightwsvs, contained within white light spectrum and emitted copiously by phone, computer and T.V. screens.
