What a great programme, if your not from the West Midlands!
Too full of inaccuracies for me to enjoy it to its fullest extent.
There's one scene where the barman explained that the pub was so full because they were going to see Birmingham City play! In 1919?
And unles the garrison pub has been rebuilt or the road moved, it's the wrong way round
And then there's the accents, all modern brummy if it's brummy at all, back then the accent would have sounded more like Black Country does now.
Is this how it is for Londoners when there's historical dramas based there? |

I am always picking up inaccuracies about films bases in London.
Car chases are particularly funny as the continuity is often very far out.
And don't get me started about people trying to do a London accent. |

I've not seen it too much though it seems a great show. Some of the accents haven't seemed quite right but I'm not aware of the south Staffordshire, black country, Birmingham and suburbs differentiation to a sufficient degree, I feel, to be an expert. |

That's been going on for years though, as a child I thought all Londoners spoke like dick van dyke |

"Birmingham City Football Club... is a professional association football club based in the city of Birmingham, England. Formed in 1875 as Small Heath Alliance, they became Small Heath in 1888, then Birmingham in 1905, finally becoming Birmingham City in 1943."!!!
One of the best and most original series for ages in my view.

We love it but do agree the accents are rubbish, saying that, this series they seem a little better, the first series were terrible.
We have the same thing with Leicester. I've never heard a media production that can get the Leicester accent right. They always sound like Brummies whereas the accent is more like a Manchester accent than Burmingham xx |

"Tommy is Irish. Went full Dublin when he was yelling at the Russian girl to put down the gun."
Cillian Murphy is a great actor but I think his Birmingham accent is a bit off, I suppose you can get away with Irish breaking into brummy, there is such a big Irish community here |

Sabini family are still around in the east end causing grief & are related to me.
The Lee's a gipsy family in the prog also have a patch of the east end still, not sure about the Shelby's as i only heard about them when the series started. |

Definitely not everyone from London knows the krays or talk like dick van dyke.
Or a geezer.
Most londoners don't even have a accent as such.
More southern than cockney.
Depending on which part of London village you come from....init. |

Best thing on TV! Only recently got in to it, watched first two series on Netflix in about a week. Gutted its last one next week. Still like first series best but all good.
Don't care about the minor details I just enjoy it |

Just seen the latest episode. Superb use of Bowies Look Up Here, I'm In Heaven in the opening scene. Infact I love the way they use modern music in this show.
Last night's episode was by far and away the best of the current series so far. They even got sexual asphyxiation in. Phew. |

It's a fantastic program. When tom hardy comes on its weird cos when he speaks it makes me think of the krays or bain. And it's based on the events and people of that time |

Fantastic stuff. Just started seris two and unlike all the American series's it don't last 20 odd episodes.
Thought it would be a little more violent then is was/is. |

Find most of the telly programmes nowadays to be pretty crap - too much Americanisation - this series seems okay though - although as others have commented - do get a bit bored with it on occasions |
