Yesterday, we had a meet arranged for 7pm, 65miles away.
As it was - there was lots of traffic due to an accident and also the traffic from a large loacl event- which our meet had not warned us about.
This meant we were caught up on the traffic, and made us late. BUT as we were using our phone on SatNav mode - we were unable to call/text this couple - but also thought that as there we other people going, they surely wouldnt mind if we ran a little late.
As it was - we didnt puld off the motorway until we were now 35 mins late - so gave them a courtesy call where we were then told not to bother coming round.
Having travelled so far was a bit shocked at the blunt attitude - and rather peeved that we now had to face this traffic again.
As it was - on the way back, we got a call from a lady off this site - and fortunately managed to arrange a meeet that MORE than made up for this earlier disappointment!!!
So the question is....how late is too late??? |

They sound like they didn't want the meet in the first place , why the hell would you turn someone away who is half an hour late?
I can understand if you were a couple of hours late but that seems a bit extreme. |

Now thats what you call determination..or was it just one of those " we are having a meet tonight and we are so horny at the thought that nothing is going to get in the way " moments? |

People are late from time to time. Traffic happens and I think we all have been late for one event at one time in life. I think most people understand that.
It sounds like and tell me if im wrong you phoned 35 mins after you said you were there.
There are two ways of looking at this one. If you were arranging to meet them in a pub or public place then they might have thought you were playing them as no call within 20 mins.
But said all that you did call, they could check out traffic probs on line if they were dubious, so to be honest I think they were a little short with you.
Sometimes though things aren’t to be. I would send a polite message to them apologising and then leave it at that as you have been courteous and move on. Just don’t dwell on it as things do happen and people can be sharper than they mean in the heat of the moment.

I agree - 35 mins is nothing. I once waited for a guy who was 30 mins late but that was because his satnav sent him in the wrong direction lol. Anything over an hour late and I would start to get a bit twitchy though, it really depends on how far they are coming - if it's only up the road then I wouldn't wait more than an hour with no call or text. |

Sounds like your planned meet missed out because of 35 minutes, bit silly to me, but here's a thought, maybe get a cheap little mobile phone you could perhaps use if you happen to be using your other phone for sat nav.

Being a couple who take pride in never being late we went to see friends over in the South West Mids.. Of course bragging about how were never late it tempted fate eh.. anyway.. we got caught in this that and the other ended up in a 'same named' village... miles away.. had to call have them come out and rescue us lol...
Made no odds at all.. Were all still great friends... and she relished the fact she can make me eat my words lol.
We have one set of friends who when we invite over for dinner etc.. we always ask them 30 mins early anyway so they are only ever 15 mins late lol.. We think they live in a different time zone, quite funny really.
Stuff em... not worth it were they!
