"He won't go to a and e......stubborn typical bloke but was just curious if diabetes is the problem
Xx"
diabetes is only really the blood sugars so if he is having a hypo etc then he should get it sorted as it can be very serious.
other related issues are as a cause of poorly controlled diabetes and not all of them can be reversed so again, it really is important to get them seen to in order for his diabetes to be controlled better and any linked problems to be monitored as necessary...happy to chat via pm |

If he's just developing Diabetes his blood sugars will be sky high. Unquenchable thirst and peeing constantly are tell tale symptoms. As well as lethargy and weight loss.
Any of them, go to A & E today. If he doesn't get treated and goes into DKA he could end up very, very ill... |

Thank you for that
I agree he needs a good kick up the arse
I'm suprised I managed to get him to go for blood tests but doc only suggested it could be an ear infection which is bollox
We seem to think he is diabetic but not su until we get results

if you know a friend with a finger prick testing kit then they might let you test yourself.
my youngest sister knew she was gestational diabetic and kept asking the hospital to test her bloods, it was more they wouldn't test her as no sugar was present in her urine, turned out her bloods on her friends' kit were 22 so she mentioned it to the midwives and they finally did tests and she should have been in a coma when the hospital go her results. she actually has juvenile diabetes and not even type 2.
i'm type 2 as well and sugar never shows up in my urine and had to ask for gestational diabetes tests (GTT) also. |

We kinda need to know his symptoms of being 'ill' to advise properly. The main things to look out for are fatigue, a constant thirst and frequent urination.
Basically what I have atm, but we know I'm diabetic and are trying to get my sugars back under control |

it's not that bad being diabetic if he's worried about that. especially type 2.
it's just a change in diet and tbh it's a diet you should be eating anyway even if not diabetic.
if type 1 it is more complicated as you'll have to count carbs and are more likely to have hypos but eventually you'll learn how to manage the condition with help. |
