The new series is finally starting tonight on bbc2 8pm and the presenters are Chris Evans, Matt LeBlanc and Sabine Schmitz, what do you think of the new line up of presenters and will you also watch it? |

I will watch it. I quite like Chris Evans....but from what I've seen in clips he is just like a kid in a toy shop enjoying himself....certainly doesn't seem to have the knowledge or authority of the previous presenters.....but time will tell so I will reserve judgement. |

"I have a feeling Chris Evans is going to be annoying.
The first feature isn't working for me..
It's just not happening... "
I kind of like the Top Gun stuff, especially when the instructors told him it was a $10 fine every time they quote the film. |

Nah, agree with the previous comments, it's not working.
At least Clarkson had the decency to roll the reliants.
D has gone to sleep, snoring like a little piggy.
The ginger tosser is still a ginger tosser, being rich doesn't make one less of a tosser.
Guests talking to cam? Desperation. |

It's like they've deconstructed the previous format then tried to cobble it back together only this time they've managed to make each aspect of an already tired show considerably worse,,
They need to pull the plug on this... |

My favorite bit of Top gear was on Dave the other day. Jez complaining that someone had written "penis" on his helmet. Camera pans to hamster on his Motorbike. Dead pan, "That was me." gets me every time! |

What a load of crap, you wouldn't be able to stay in the car on the back of the breakdown truck, plus what breakdown wanker drives all that distance with his lights flashing.
Not going to waste anymore of a decent night watching that crap |

The old show had become a little tired, it was a formula that needed revamping, with the new line up I was hoping they'd revamp the whole show, garbage. |

Thought I would give this a go, but Chris Evans is pants, and comes across as really wooden.
Trying to copy the Jezza, but epic fail. Didn't laugh once, and laughed all the time with the old show. Such a shame |

Agree needed a revamp the old show was tired. I liked the revamped celeb in the Mini plus the offroad section. The problem was that Evans & LeBlanc are two presenters replacing three and there was not banter between them which was what made the old show. |

Just like the old one, If they spent more time showing/talking about cars and not telling/trying to tell jokes or doing challenges etc people wouldn't even mention the presenters |

It will not get better it is poorly scripted the presenters are plastic and they are trying to live off the back of clarkson it will never work. The new clarkson, may and hammond series starts on Amazon prime in october, I will be watching but I won't be bloody paying for it. |

Tbh first episode wasn't bad. However unlike the old top gear if I miss one I won't be annoyed. If I miss this one I'll not be in a hurry to try and download it. For me it's like trying to remake cheers with other people in the bar. Yes it's the same bar and you might have a chuckle but it'll never be the same. |

Not very good, not awful but a bit tame. Lacks the edge of the original line up.
It does make me laugh that people who have always hated TG still harp on about how silly it is and how it should " stick to reviewing cars" Etc etc. it's light entertainment not a public information film and if you don't like it don't watch it.
I'll probably watch it but won't be worried if I miss one, now how do I watch Amazon without buying? |

think it's time to go back to basics. the show was a comedy before the trio left. start evaluating motoring seriously. may be boring to start with but refreshing that normal cars are being evaluated with the odd special thrown in. |

Caught the last 30 mins, errr yeah so so but then I thought that about most of the last series as well.... It's a has-been format that's been done to death.
That's true about most TV, which is why I watch very little TV.
Now just waiting for grosse point blank... Classic film |

I didn't watch it,
Vowed I wouldn't unless it was the original cast.
Top gear and formula one was the only thing I watched on the bbc and they gave both gone,
Sent the bbc a lovely letter and stopped paying for the license. |

"Script was poor, presentation bad, charisma absent, Film crew were up to scratch.
Bloody awful start, would be hard to go downhill from that.
"
I had my doubts and wasn't going to watch it, but by chance I had arrived home and just sat down at bang on 8pm so turned it on
So it kicks of with the trusty 3 wheelers which Clarkson also played to death few years back although Clarkson in his series done a far better job when he was tipping it on every turn.
I think the script was written exact same as it would be played out by the trusty three but Evans and co just couldn't come up with the goods.
I lasted to 8:40pm then started flicking the channels to see what else was on, not sure what happened after that as I simply gave up on it.
Will wait for Clarkson, Hammond & May on Amazon to do it right or buy their full dvd box set when its released.
Conclusion
2016 BBC Top Gear 29/05/2016 absolute crap, failed to win the crowd. |

Absolutely dire - the new UK Top Gear, set mostly in the USA...
And Chris Evans managing to sound like John Major giving a weak and watery impression of Murray Walker...
I watched bits on and off - couldn't bear more than 5 minutes at one go...
More dire than a dire thing in a dire place..!

If you go back and watch the very first series with CHM in it was no better than what was on last night. Evans and le blanc need time to work out the chemistry just like the previous 3 did.. |

It was SO poor I switched off before the end. It was dreadful. The bit with Chris Evans on the sofa was cringeworthy. £650,000 per episode for this trash. What a waste of money. |

Well.... being an avid Clarkson fan, I will NOT be watching the ginger cunt, can't stsnd the twat!
From the reports on here it was obviously shite, never expected it to be any good.
I loved Top Gear, it was the only reason I paid my TV licence fee, now the trio have gone what's the point in paying for a crap service! |

I've had a night to mull it over... I said further up the thread the old show was tired, why rehash a tired formula (I know it was successful around the world) with new presenters, doesn't make sense it was always going to be compared to the old series, it's like the beeb has no new ideas
I'll likely watch the rest as I like the fabulous cars the show features I think I'll do it on mute,..
fifth gears viewing figures are likely to be boosted. |

To be fair on the BBC, they had to try and keep it going. Its a huge cash cow. As for Clarkson being smug:
a) he caused this in the first place with his diva temper
b) who says the Amazon version is going to be any good?
I'm happy to keep watching it. Once Evans calms down a bit I think it could improve. And I still like Matt Leblanc. |

I will probably watch some of the new top gear, to see if it improves, but I have not set series record for it, and will only watch if it happens to be on.
If I was programme buyer for Dave TV I would be busy today trying to find something else to buy. Potentially a very big shortfall in BBC budgets coming up. |

The script needs far greater work as there were no jokes and little repartee.
I didn't think it was good either but it is brand new. You have got to give it a try to be fair. Evans took over from Terry Wogan and everyone said he was shit; now he is good. Gotta give it time or BBC will drop it and we will have to pay £10 a show for Clarkson's new venture.... . |

I enjoyed Evans when he first took over from Wogan. But I never listen any more as his programme is too kid centric.
Thankfully, I am already a Amazon Prime member and looking forward to watching Clarkson and Co even more after watching FlopGear last night. |

Wanted to watch the Top Gear: Extra Gear before I made my final decision on the new format.
I can now confidently say that I really don't like the Chris Evans trying to be Clarkson Top Gear parody - that's what it seemed like. But I'm going to give it a chance and hope they'll settle in.
Now, I do like Extra Gear on BBC3. If I decide I really can't stomach Evans any longer, I'll just stick with that instead.

I have been watching top gear for thirteen years, well before its previous incarnation came into existence. Having devoted so much time to the show, I thought it only right that I give the latest version of the show a chance.
Bad points:
Chris Evans is loud and forcing the audience to applaud
The new off road section of the track layout seems... Cheesy?
The script needs work
The chemistry between Chris and Matt needs work
The "best car" segment during the star interview made it very difficult for me to connect with, in this case, Gordon Ramsay.
Good points:
Cinematography is great
Matt LeBlanc is a surprisingly good presenter
The studio looks fresh.
All in all, I'd give the episode a 5/10. The materials to produce a worthy evolution of Top Gear is there, but it needs significant refinement. |

We watched 15 minutes and gave up
To much shouting , and if you watched the audience who thought the camera was not on them they looked real miserable . Soon as they realised the camera was on them it was all smiles .
Just not the same |

"BBC said this morning on the news they cant understand why people are slagging it off on twitter!!!!!"
I watched it...as I said I would. Having given it a day or two to consider my reply I DO know why it is getting slagged off.
Good point....Matt Le Blanc was not as bad as I thought he could have been.
On the other side...I didn't expect much from Chris Evans.....but I got even less! Loud doesn't hide lack of talent or lack of knowledge/understanding.
Big lack of Chemistry...I'll wait a few weeks then try again to see if it improves...but I'm not really holding my breath after the first show! |
